Greetings,

I am a mom who has breast feed all three of my children, however due to an illness I will not be able to nurse my new baby for more than two weeks- due date Nov 11th.

I have two close friends and neighbors who have generously and beautifully offered to share some breast milk so I can supplement this with formula.

It is hard for me, but I also feel it is beautiful to be able to give this child life, and support this being no matter what it takes.

I also feel it is beautiful that these two woman are so generous and such good friends that they would do this for us.

I am wondering if anyone else has had experience with this?

Thank you

I personally haven't been through this, but wanted to offer and say that you are so lucky to have these women who are willing to help. I know a few moms who donate either to milk banks or to individuals, and it's such a wonderful gift. I wish you and your new baby all the best.

I sent breast milk across the country to the daughter of one of my mother's coworkers. She was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was pregnant with her third child and had a mastectomy. I had tons of milk and was happy and willing to share it. I was REALLY pleased that it was going to help a babe be healthy.

So, I can't imagine what you are going through, but I've been there from the other side. There's nothing like being able to help a babe get breastmilk!

Yes, I have donated milk privatly to two moms plus wetnursed a couple of babes for friends. I think it is so cool your friend sare willing to help you out like this! And you shine as a mama to try another route instead of automatically jumping on the formula bandwagon 100% which woudl certainly be easier. Every little bit counts!
