I don;t know if this will help any mamas out there, but dd has finally started sleeping through the night on her own without any hard core night weaning!!

She'll be 20 mos tomorrow. This week we've really noticed a growth spurt in her, cognitively speaking. She's singing songs now, pooping on the potty everyday, and SLEEPING THRU THE NIGHT!!!

One of the things that I think contributed to it was the fact that we moved her bed into a smaller room and her head is facing a different direction. Feng shui?? I never would have thought about it, but it literally took place over night. the new room is a little farther away from us and house noise in general, but really only about 2 feet from her old bed. (It's on the opposite side of the wall that she used to sleep against).

We transitioned her into her own bed about 2 months ago because we were no longer getting good sleep. DD kept waking up angry evertime one of us would bump her, etc. As soon as she was in her own bed, she slept better, but she would still wake up to nurse about 2-4 times per night. I'd walk back and forth like a zombie, sometimes just staying in her bed (it's a queen).

About 4 months ago, I was really convinced that I would nightwean this Spring. I was really getting fed up and going through a rough spot as far as nursing a toddler goes. After we moved her into her own bed, I suggested to dh that we begin this difficult process. But I just couldn't do it! She screamed for 10 minutes in his arms one night and that was all it took for me to lose all resolve I had. And I didn't care. I found myself wanting to nurse her again instead of loathing it. I see it now as a typical rough patch...but what a suprise to find thst she's sleeping so much better anyway!

The first time she slept from 11-7 I had to restrain myself from going into her room and putting a mirror in front of her mouth! Whoo hoo!!!!
