That from a local newspaper blog that I read sometimes.

She said that in reference to FFing her daughter since she was FF, very sickly, and probably not having any immunities to pass to her daughter.

oops, fixed. sorry.

Yeah, I really hate the mainstream- formula is good enough mentality.

That's why I like to hide out here

Though it seems to be oozing in a bit here as well....

A bit? You think? I want to say I always admire what you say and I guess the "gall" you have to suggest what is right.

Back on topic, what would a human need with cow immunity? That's the most illogical thing I've heard regarding not breastfeeding in a long time.

Yeah, Angela. I don't always agree with you, but usually I do and have to say that it really helped me when I was struggling with bf my infant to have judgemental, straight-up, passionate bf advocates telling me to keep at it and that formula feeding wasn't acceptable. Without that influence, I might have given up.

The cow milk in formula has been pasteurized, which kills the antibodies.

Not that antibodies to what cows are exposed to would be anywhere near as helpful to a little human as the antibodies to what humans are exposed to (the antibodies which are present in human milk) anyway.

Ok, had I had liquid in my mouth, it would have shot out my nose!
I seriously belly-laughed at this.

Even when you snark you are eloquant and I think I always agree with your posts, but can't often find a way to be as tactful as you in the face of asshatism.

Well, as to the side conversation - I guess I don't read enough on this board....
Of course, I am 8 1/2 months pg - it does weird stuff to the brain.

As for the original topic -
A Cow's immunities? For real? Holy cow (pardon the pun - I told you my brain is weird right now)!

Mooo.....

i was breastfed, but drank cowmilk as a child. Hey maybe cow's immunities are what made me allergic to cow milk protein.

Calves wean and lose their tolerance after a couple of years too right?

Who wants to join my I heart Algena fan club? (I repeat, I am not a stalker...)

I was ff and sick all the time as a child. One of the main reasons I decided to bf was because I figured I've had everything under the sun, my dd would be better off with my immunities than a cows.

How about the inherent risk of contamination in formula? Even the FDA admits Enterobacter Sakazakii is in around 14% of powder formulas. Maybe after the baby recovers from meningitis, she'll have GREAT immunity
