My daughter was never one to mouth things. Up until maybe a week ago I could leave her alone for two seconds, and be totally secure knowing that she'd be reading or coloring while I went to the bathroom, or grabbed another cup of coffee

Except, now

Now, she sticks EVERYTHING in her mouth! I don't know if she's imitating our dogs, or if she's just going through a phase, but it's truly annoying. Today she was coloring, and in one split second shoved paper in her mouth. Same goes for crayons, stickers, things she finds on the floor, her toys, shirts, ANYTHING

I always tell her that we don't do that, but it's really getting on my nerves. I need to watch her every move

And, for the record, she's 20 months.

What do I do?

My twins started sticking everything in their mouths as soon as they were capable, and haven’t slowed down. They are 18 months and have destroyed over 100 board books, many clothes, even furniture. Nothing is off limits. I really hoped they would outgrow it by now. I think the worst part about it is that I feel like they are being deprived of experiences like crayons & real books (they just have cloth books). Sorry, I wish I could be more help.

Man, this is my daughter too! She *never* mouthed anything except the things that were designed for mouthing (e.g., wooden teething rings, Sophie the Giraffe, etc.). But now, at 27 months, everything is going into her mouth: rubber bands off of newspaper rolls, car keys, shoes, etc., etc. I can hardly think about the toxins she's ingesting without shuddering. Not to mention the other day she was chewing on a spoon and it got totally stuck in her mouth...horrible! Poor thing.

So, PLEASE, somebody help!

From the time he could, my son would find the smallest spec of lint on the floor and put it in his mouth. And still does! Endure it. Thats the only peice of advice I have. And keep a WATCHFUL EYE. I cant let DS out of my site for this very reason. Fortunatly, he has a major gag reflex. So I atleast know he wont choke, but he will throw up everywhere.
