Well, We got back into town 2 days ago. I evacuated to Raleigh NC from Kill Devil Hills NC where the hurricane hit. While in Raleigh at the hotel and during the drive we used dispoasables on 8 mo Dylan (for the 1st time) because there would be no where to do laundry. I got 7th generation brand unbleached ones from the health food store. They did have some of that icky gel (I cut one open after she had peed in it to check) but it was mostly pulp and cotton for absorbtion. I actually liked using them, though. I am soooo guilty admitting that! Dh kept saying, "I can't wait to get home and get a cloth dipe on my baby's butt!" But I, as the one who changes a majority of the diapers and does most of the laundry enjoyed the vacation

She does have a prefold on today, heyenas, so don't worry!

Hey, don't feel guilty for using sposies and liking it! I felt the same way when we used sposies for a week while our washing machine was out of order. It was a nice break from dealing with poopy diapers and laundy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. But it also renewed my outlook on cloth. Having not used sposies before, I got to see how much waste we were actually producing. I also realized how *stinky* sposies can get!

It's okay! We are out of town right now (at a hotel) and I'm using sposies for most of my trip. I'm dying to put her back in cloth though! I'm using them starting on Friday or when the sposies are gone, whichever comes first. I must add that I'm enjoying seeing a "little butt" again! It fits so much nicer in leggings. She hasn't been in sposies for quite a few months now so it feels weird putting one on.

Sometimes it SEEMS easier with DD. For example, last night my baby fell asleep before I had a chance to change him into his night CD combo. I did not want to turn him to do it, so I let him sleep and put on a DD on him while he laid on his tummy. It was much easier than doing the usual night combo routine.

Still, we thought Sebastian looked sooooo weird on sposies!! He looked like a little grown up DH even mentioned how cute he looks with his bubble butt. Funny to think that when we first started we thought we would never get used to the big butt look

Well, the next morning, my for cloth grew even more. My baby was wet in that "leak proof" thing and so was the bed!!! Next time I will wake him up and put on the night diaper on him...

BTW - I don't buy DD. These are the ones left from when I began CD.

I agree with Linda....escaping a hurricane is a good excuse! You're off the hook!

I agree with the person who said sposies have a place. I look at them like I look at single serve applesauce containers. WHY, if you are at home, would you spend the MONEY and create the WAISTE from the single serves? A big glass jar of applesauce makes much more sense AT HOME. But, on the run, tossing a small, vaccum sealed container of applesauce into the diaper bag is a great convenience!

Same thing with sposies. We actually use them quite often if we are going to be out long enough for a diaper change.

I hope your house escaped damage and that your town rebuilds quickly! :
