Looking for recommendations from mamas with experience!
Up to this point my daughter has worn shoes only a few times (for pictures, to stand outside when picking a pumpkin, and to try to keep her socks on and feet warm in cold weather (which ended up being only a few times before I gave up and just double socked her
))
I'm a big believer in the 'hard soles are not good for walking development', and was looking at getting her a pair or two of Robeez. She's been walking for almost a month now and I would like to let her walk outside without fear of her hurting her feet (all pavement, except our tiny bit of lawn, and they shattered a window next door last fall and I worry about possible glass shards that weren't found).

Are Robeez good? Anything better? What type of sole would be best? (was looking at the soft soles, but says they are only good for light outdoor use
)

TIA mamas!

We love Pedipeds.

They were DD's first walking shoes and even now, at 21.5 months, she still has a couple of pairs.

A lot of people swear by See Kai Run. I like them too but the soles are a bit thicker than Pedipeds!

DD is 17 months and has a few pairs of Robeez tredz (the outdoor ones). I find them to be great. They're flexible and are leather, so they stretch to fit the foot well. I do find them pricey however, and buy them on sale when I can find them.

May be something for down the road, when she's walking all the time, but we LOVE our See Kai Run shoes. We did the robeez booties and then some of their shoes with the soft man made sole. However, for real pavement, playground, wet wear I'd recommend See Kai Run's super flexible rubber soles and soft leather uppers.

I like Robeez like everyone else - I also got Paige a pair of Toms Shoes, which are really perfect for her. They are easy to get on, have lasted forever, and are very comfortable for her

I got the cheap Robeez knock offs at Target. For as long as they last while still crawling/walking/falling, I couldn't justify the price. I did get some Robeez Tredz once he had really stopped dopping so much and I liked them. I'm also a fan of Stride Rite for the fat of foot.

Thanks, I will keep it in mind for when she is really on the go. Today is the first day she actually walked -all- day. Up until now it has just been a here-or-there thing... So for now I think the soft soles should do us. I don't want to let her on the pavement much until she has less chance of falling, so I am guessing the next few months will mostly be on the porch/deck or on the grass

We use regular Robeez (or knock offs) for indoors, or Padraigs and she has one pair of Robeez Tredz for outside.

I have heard great things about See Kai Run and Pedipieds

I bought the soft-soles from walmart when DS was really little (I think they go up to size 5 or so?), then I found Osh Kosh's that are pretty darn flexible for 6/7. To supplement these we have crocs for the summer and rubber boots for fall/spring/etc... which aren't super flexible, but are enough for me for playing in the mud, etc
Inside he goes barefoot and wears socks when its really cold... as soon as it gets to be truely toasty outside (75+) we'll be barefoot outside too

We ordered a pair of Robeez last night... And called promptly this morning to cancel it

I tried measuring her little feet before bed, and it wasn't going well, so I measured them while she was asleep... Thought it looked off and double checked this morning. Sure enough I ordered a size too small :p I wish they could have just changed the order, but they 'can't do that' so had to cancel it, and now we have to wait to reorder until we get the money credited back to paypal

for Robeez. I bought dd's from a local re-sale list for $5 and the next size up for $10.

We swear by Preschoolians
They are pricy but we get 1 pair per season and wear them with everything. They are super flexible and DS loves them. Also helps my fashion sense that i can create my own

DD wore Robeez until she hit the point where they were obviously not enough shoe anymore - they kept getting dirty, wet, and muddy and spent more time in the laundry room then on her feet

For her first pair of soled shoes, I bought her Uniquely Squeaky shoes. Our local kids resale shop sells them new. The squeaker is removable and came out before they went home with us. I was able to easily fold them into quarters in my hand and they held up well. They're cute too. She's been in those (well, different pairs of course) since she was about 15 months old.

Now that she's hitting the end of the sizes for the Squeaky shoes, I bought her some See Kai Run sandals, which we're also quite happy with. I think the Uniquely Squeaky are a bit more flexible, but only a bit.

My dd is 22 months old and we use a combination of regular robeez, robeez tredz, pedipeds, pedipeds flex, and riley roos. If we are going to be walking and playing outside, I usually put the pedipeds flex or robeez tredz on her; however sometimes she insists on wearing her regular robeez with the dinos. Earlier this week we took a walk (about 1/2 a mile or so on sidewalks and crossing streets) and she wore her soft soled robeez. It did not bother her and as long as her feet don't hurt, I am happy.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread - I was wondering why my daughter didn't walk right in her StrideRites (that the saleswoman told me were "Very flexible"..) well, now I know. Have just ordered her a pair of PediPeds from zappos.com for the summer, and might get a pair of RileyRoos too.
Thanks for the recommendations!
