Ok, for those of you have short LP's, are we talking 7 days, 10 days, what? Taking control of your fertility says 10 days is OK, but other sources seem to say 12 -14 is normal. I am confused and don't know what is normal. Do you count the day that you O as part of your luteal phase or the day after? I am using the fertility monitor and get two peak fertility days, so I don't know when to start counting for my luteal phase.
Thanks,
You count the first day after you O. So if you O today, tomorrow will be 1 DPO. You want at least 10 day LP, but 12-14 is better. I think a short LP is anything less than 10.

It will be easier for you to tell all this stuff if you chart instead of/in addition to the fertility monitor. For $12 for a thermometer, some free charts and your fingers, you will know exactly when you O and if you are pregnant without the fertility monitor at all. Get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler.

Here is my chart:
http://www2.fertilityfriend.com/home/5d839

If you look on the bottom chart, you can see how easy it is to tell when I ovulated and how long my LP is (11 days).
