This thought just occured to me. This will be my 4th baby but my first time using a doula and midwife. I'm not sure of the proper etiquette.<br><br>
My midwife is mostly covered by my insurance and my doula is still attending births for free to qualify for cert. Is anyone else getting gifts for their birth attendants?<br><br>
If I do get a gift I have no idea what to give. Any suggestions?<br><br>

This is an idea I had since I will be having 2 doulas and they are both certifying so are free/very low cost:<br><br>
They both do yoga and meditate and are spiritual-minded.<br><br>
A birth cd with pictures from my labor and delivery that I would feel comfortable having them share with other women they might work with in the future. (Another doula I interviewed had received this from one of her clients and she LOVED it)<br><br>
A Bodhi seed mala (like a rosary) since our son will be named Bodhi.<br><br>
A gift card to Barnes and Noble or other cool bookshop/store.<br><br>

I made a tea basket for the office staff, doctors and nurses at my family practice office after my first was born. Was inexpensive and they commented on it for a long time.

Anything that you think they may like or find useful will be appreciated. In my first hb, I had a doula friend there who had just started apprenticing as a mw so I bought her something I knew she would need for her own practice at some point - a baby scale. I like the belly soaps I have seen advertised at the top of some of these pages as well. Books or a gift card to a bookstore as a pp suggested is another great idea as we all like to add to our lending libraries. Gift cards or certs are also a great idea - yoga class, massage, etc. And btw - I would have loved it if someone had made me a knitted uterus (patterns can be found online). It all depends on your budget and your craftiness.
