we live in a state that we pretty much hate. dh was transferred here a year ago and we are here for two more years until we can transfer again. (i cant wait!) we want to get back to the west coast desperately.
dh's job is pretty secure, but he works out of a plant (sub-contracted, basically) that isnt doing well at all. there have been talks of it shutting down in a few years or sooner (not sure when?) and there have been between 500-1000 people laid off each year for the past few years. i doubt that it would take the whole plant being shut down for dh's work here to become obsolete.
the only reason we are here is for his job. like i said, we are desperate to get back home. east coast living, away from friends and family, just isnt for us.
i dont know how long and how much we would have to use a freezer for it to be useful to buy one. how hard would it be to sell one if we did wind up being able to move? i love the idea of getting all my produce when its fresh and cheap (u-picks and such) and freezing it. grocery costs are ridiculous here so if i can buy and freeze when things are on sale we could potentially save a lot. not to mention how happy i would be to be able to make a lot of meals at once and freeze them. lots of stress relief.
but i dont want to get one and then stock it with tons of food and then move and have to leave it behind... we would lose the freezers value and whatever food was in it.
so is it a smart buy for us?
