Hello from Belgium

I have been reading the posts on meal planning and stock piling for a while now, we live in a pretty expensive city and I'm always on the lookout to reduce our food expenses. Would it make sense for us to get an extra freezer considering
a. I don't really have a place to put it apart from living room or one of the bedrooms (we live in an apartment)
b. stuff doesn't go on sale that much here except the ready to expire marked down meats (those I buy and freeze to use during the coming week)
c. we use public transportation and getting the stuff home is a major undertaking
d. I don't really cook to freeze just yet but like the idea. Although, I can whip up a decent meal in less than 30 min if need be.

what do you think?

Hello!

I don't know what to tell you - it does sound like you have some barriers to freezing - especially the space in your apartment. Is there maybe a common area in the apartment where your landlord would allow a freezer? They do consume a fair bit of electricity as well...

On the other hand, we got a freezer last year and I love it. For me it is more about buying and growing produce when it is in season and freezing it then saving money though. Like, when there are fresh local berries, buying and freezing a ton of them at once. It saves some money but also the food tastes so much better if it is in season and locally grown. I don't know about where you live, but here there are farmers that can deliver right to your door (CSA farms) and grocery stores that deliver as well, so that might be an option for you to get more fresh food for freezing.
