Having very very severe pains on my left side. Feels more like a ruptured cyst than anything pregnancy related but it is becoming increasingly painful.

I am snowed in right now. My car can't get out of my driveway and an ambulance seems absolutely rediculous to me.

I don't know what to do at this point.

I would call the ambalance or have someone you know pick you up and take you. That is definatly something to get checked out especially if it is getting worse, not better. Good luck and I am sending good vibes your way. Take care of yourself!

Do you have any friends who could help you go in? It sounds like you are in immense pain and need to be seen, if only to ease your discomfort. Maybe a neighbor can help dig you out????

dh is a paramedic... people feel silly calling 911 all the time, but i promise you your concerns are way more important than half the calls he goes on. they're getting paid, so it's not like you're putting them out, it's their job. call, get it checked out, and when/if you find out it's nothing, you can sleep well tonight.

Hey thank you guys for the support!!!

I decided to just try to relax a little. I took a shower, drank a few glasses of water, layed down, and tried to calm myself.

I feel much better. Over the past hour or so the pain has eased a lot. I think I may have just really freaked myself out. I just felt something and immediatly got scared because my biggest fear right now is having something happen and being alone.

I think I needed to just relax a little and calm myself down. I am still going to find a way in to the OB in the morning but I feel much better already.

Thank you all who were concerned. s

It does sound like something to check out. Don't try to be too tough or worry about inconveniencing anyone. I know how easy it is to get in that mode, but think about any steps made to insure your health and safety as gifts to your baby, and you wouldn't be shy about allowing those....
keep us posted. Let us know what they say and how you are feeling.

Glad it turned out ok. I had a similar experience the other day while on a conference call at work, and eventually had to sign off because the pain was so bad (on my right side, started just below my ribs and was searing pain down to just above my hip). MW advice was pretty much what you did - drink water, lie down, try to relax.

Intellectually, I was pretty sure it was just gas. If I hadn't been pregnant, there would have been no doubt. However - everything is so smooshed around and in different places, and being pregnant makes anything in the abdominal area more worrisome...is it appendicitis? Gall bladder? ArgghhhHH! But, most of the time, I suspect it's just gas....that said you should never EVER feel silly or worry about calling your dr. to check in. That's part of what they're there for.

Glad you're feeling better. I had the most excrutiating pain the other night from trapped gas! I swear to god, it was the worst pain I have ever felt. I think sometimes it can be hard to know what the cause for the pain is because all the digestive organs have moved so much! I wasn't ready for that pain to be so high in my abdomen! My husband actually wanted to take me to the ER because I was literally in tears and writhing in pain. I'm glad I just waited a bit for it to subside!

Yeah- last week at toddler group the other mums (all of whom have been through labour themselves, mostly natural) were seconds away from putting me in the car and driving me to hospital. Hope you're feeling better.
