I am 6 weeks pregnant. I have had very bad morning sickness with flu like symptoms since Friday. For the past two days I have been very dizzy/lightheaded and weak. Then about 30 minutes ago I had a very slight pain in the side of my abdomen and a slight pain in my left shoulder. I looked up all these symptoms and came up with ectopic pregnancy. : Now I'm having slight pain in my right shoulder. The pain is not that bad and by itself is not enough to make me worry. But combined with the dizziness and severe weakness it has me concerned. I'm debating whether or not to call dh home from work to take me to the ER, or wait until tomorrow and contact the OB that I saw while pg with dd. What would you do?

It sounds like you are concerned, but talking yourself out of it.

I'd say go to the ER. 6 weeks is right about the time for an ectopic pregnancy. I hope it is not, but if it is, far better for you to get in there asap before your tube ruptures so that you might have a better chance of preserving your fertility for next time. If its nothing, then you will be reassured and perhaps they can figure out what's going on with you. Try calling your midwife, many of them have call services and they will call you back in the off hours, but I bet she'll tell you what I am. I hope we are both wrong and this is just one of those pregnancy things and you have a happy healthy baby. Let us know.

I would suggest going to the ER if only because you sound really worried and it would be a chance to put your mind at ease. I'm sending you lots of healthy pg vibes. Keep us posted!

I just don't know. I just recently got my panic disorder under control and when I was having panic attacks I would call my husband home from work to take me to the ER. He recently changed his work schedule to 7pm to 3am so that he could be home with me all day. He will be really annoyed with me if I call him to come home tonight. He'll think I'm having another panic attack. And if we go and everything turns out to be okay he will be SO mad at me. I just don't know.

If you're worried, you should probably go...maybe tell your DH that you just want to "make sure" that everything is ok for your peace of mind - you shouldn't have to be worrying like that when you are pregnant anyway...he might be more supportive than you think!

Well one of the things that stands ot to me is that you said you had these symptoms and THEN googled them. If you were googling things that could go wrong and then felt the symptoms I think maybe the panic attack think might be a possibility, but the other way around doesn't make sense. If you are feeling this still I would think better safe than sorry, but only you know your symptoms. Good luck!

I think, if your DH loves you, he'd rather be safe than sorry.

Don't feel guilty about it (easier said than done, I know), just go.

It sounds like how I was in the begining of my last pregnancy. It was due to dehydration. Try drinking some water, or a coke (it helps with the nasua) and lie down for a few and see if it helps.

Also the pain in the shoulder can also be caused by gas pains......I know early pregnancy tends to create alot of gas issues in alot of moms.

If you still dont feel right then go in and get checked. But bear in mind, being as early as you are, even if it is ectopic they may not be able to tell yet.

Since you say the pain is just slight, I might wait a few hours and see how it goes. If it gets any worse, definitely go! If it stays the same, I'd call the OB as soon as they open in the morning.

I see now it's actually been a few hours...hope all is going well with whatever decision you made!

Well, I didn't end up going. Dh thinks I'm overreacting (he's probably right). I have an appt. for tomorrow morning. I still feel like crap and I'm just trying to take it easy and relax until tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Over-reacting or no over-reacting, I would have gone to the ER with or without my DH.

It is important that if you think something is wrong to go get it checked out.

Pain isn't something that should be ignored and put off for another day or so.

As a pp said, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Fingers crossed for you, I hope things are fine.
