I'm currently taking 120 mg a day.. Should I increase to 160mg?

Upon starting it, I was able to decrease supplement from about 20 to 24 oz a day to between 12 and 18 oz a day. Usually it's around 15oz.

I'd love to get it down a bit more... I'm taking saw pametto (sp?) berry but I don't really see a difference.

I'm taking 30mg, 3 times a day of dom... I was thinking I'd start increasing to 40mg 4 times a day and see if it helps. I try to pump once a day (cluster pump in the PM) but I nurse on demand. She nurses about 6 times a day, sometimes more.

Is it worth it to take even MORE domperidone? I read somewhere that increasing dose doesn't change anything but I remember from being having to increase dose (when I was relactating) to get more milk. I would just love to get that supplement down to around 10 oz a day.

Thanks!

Hello again, dear comrade in arms!
I take 180mg and noticed a difference from the lesser dose.
I say go for it!
Esmé gets about 10 -12 oz a day in supplement ...
Take care, hon!

I did 40 4 times a day when I was having supply issues. I also used fenugreek and blessed thistle (which to me seemed to work better in combination)

I'd of course check with a health care provider, but adding to the dose might be helpful.

It's worth a try. I'm sure you've found Dr. Newman's dom FAQ. He says 90 mg is the starting dose and says he goes as high as 160 in some situations.
I take 90 mg a day and use 10 oz of supp a day. I tried taking 120 mg a day but didn't notice any improvement from 90. I'm now wondering if I should have tried an even higher dose? I'm reluctant given that I expect to be taking it for two years.

I started at 90mg, saw some increase, went to 120mg and saw some increase (or decrease in supplement, I should say) but I just think it could be more than it is.

I too expect to take it throughout my entire nursing relationship... The thought of going through a box and 1/4 a week for the next year and a half makes me cringe though, lol. Of course, I may be able to step down on it once we hit the solids period too. That should (hypothetically) cut down on the supplement need. Unless she's like DS and doesn't want solids until well over a year old.

I have had more milk on 160 than 120, so I think it's worth a try.

With both of my babies, I have been able to back down the dose once baby is receiving solids. I am currently on 90mg at nearly 12 months.

It's not necessarily required to take the domperidone through the entire nursing relationship. With my first dd, I weaned off of the dom as she reached the one year mark, but we continued to nurse for another year and a half. She got however much milk I was making; but the nursing was at least as much about the relationship as the milk at that point.

Have you tried herbs other than saw palmetto? I have had good responses from fenugreek, alfalfa, shatavari, marshmallow root, barley grass. At times I have taken all of these.

Keep up the hard work, mama!
