Should I start washing clothes?

I have 4 weeks left. I have all the baby clothes and diapers organized in drawers but haven't washed anything yet. I keep thinking it is too early.

I have four weeks left too, and I've already done some washing-- everything I'll need for the 4-5 day stay in the birth clinic. Part of the reason I went ahead and washed clothes and sheets and stuff is that 1) the clinic doesn't provide that stuff for baby and 2) we don't have a dryer, so we can't dump a load of wash in and be good to go an hour later.

Plus, I was just ***dying*** to start organizing drawers & fold up all the sweet clothes and sheets and stuff....

So no, for me it wasn't too early to start washing...

I washed most of the clothes a few weeks ago because I couldn't wait to fold and sort and put them away. I know some people are more comfortable waiting so the stuff will be cleaner when the baby arrives, but I'm not one of those people. It's all in drawers, away from cat hair and dust, so I'm sure it's all fine. I haven't washed the diapers and bedding yet, but now that I'm done with teaching until next fall, my nesting is REALLY revving up so I'll be washing, sewing, and organizing like crazy!
oh yes!! wash away!! YOu never know what wonderful projects nesting will bring and this way, if you go early you're ready!! (spoken like a TRUE nester, lol)
I got all my goodies washed up last week and it was soo fun to see how small they were and get them put away! And since we dont' have a nursery , or even a dresser for babies stuff it gave me time to organize and reorganize things and figure out exactly where all this stuff will go!
I'm waiting for MIL to get here so she can do it

No, seriously, she lives to do that stuff when she's here!! Keeps her busy.

I was supposed to writing papers yesterday, instead I handmade myself all these very fancy labor focus cards (printed on photo paper with a picture and focus words on side, and affirmations on the flip side...for various stages, moods etc) and washed baby stuff...

I was bummed to find out that the 100% cotton, but cheap stuff we bought, like sleepers and gown 3 packs, is in fact CHEAP, and washing didn't make it soft.

Grrr...

I already washed everything. I washed like, last month. It was fun to fold them and put them away..all those lil clothes.
Look at it this way, if you wash them now that's just one less thing you have to think about.

I'm 34.5 weeks and washing clothes and diapers now. Also nesting like crazy, I guess it goes together.

Nothing will be sitting out and getting dusty, so I figured I might as well get it out of the way.

Yeah, I pretty much wash stuff as soon as I get it, and then put it away in the drawers. I'm not really worried about dust, and our only dog doesn't go upstairs, where all the bedrooms are. My main reason for washing is to get the sizing off of new clothes and detergent residue off of hand me downs. So, I figure I can wash at any time. One less thing to worry about.

I washed all the gender neutral clothes a couple of weeks ago... they're folded in a laundry basket in my closet until baby arrives (the cloth diapers are in the baby's dresser drawer- aha, I found something else to do nesting wise, I can rearrange!
).

I keep the house neat and clean, and if a few cat hairs or dust get on the baby's clothes- well, it's gonna happen sooner or later!

I've been kinda bummed the last few days. Now that I'm in prodromal labor land I've already done pretty much all of my nesting and don't have much to do besides normal housecleaning!

Yes! This is one of my nesting things. With both pregnancies this was one of the first things I did. The washing is easy, it's the folding and sorting by size that takes time. I'm finally done, though the clothes don't all fit in the dresser! I think we must have been really slow with laundry with dd1 and these clothes never had an opportunity to be in the dresser all at once until now!

My friend went into labor at 36 weeks and had not washed any clothes. I was completely appalled since her mother had just come for a week's visit and I couldn't figure out why they hadn't done that easy task. But that's just me.
Freaky about having enough clean clothes and enough food in the freezer when a baby's coming.

I started washing clothes & dipes at about 32 weeks, when my DH put together the baby dresser. I had about 4 loads of clothes (everything up to & including 6 mos clothes, so I guess they all didn't need to get done, I just have no idea how fast he'll outgrow the NB and 3 mos clothes!) and 2 loads of diapers (since they were different materials) so I was glad I got them going. I just washed the things that I definitely plan to use, left a few items out that may get returned if we don't need them. It felt good to get them washed and out of the way - they were hogging a lot of space in our guest room and my parents are visiting soon.

Well, just my luck I'll go into labor when the sink is full of dishes and there's three loads of laundry waiting to be folded.
I shouldn't complain about a mostly clean house!

I sorted the clothes by size and only washed the things I will need early on. The diapers you may want to go ahead and wash if they are new I think you have to wash them several times before they reach a good absorbancy. I have washed my new cpfs twice and am going to wash them again closer to the big day just to get them nice and soft.I have washed my doublers three or four times already until they seemed sort of broken in.

Oh I just loooved washing the little bitty baby clothes!
Our house gets pretty dusty pretty fast so I just put the clothes and stuff in little plastic bags.

I got my oh so cute hotsling last Wednesday and my UBCPFs and covers on Friday. Finally got all the dipes good and quilty. It's shocking the difference between when you 1st get them new and after they've been washed a few times. Ah, I'm in love, they're great!

So to answer your question, yes, wash away, go bananas!
It'll feel great to get it done and you won't poop yourself out.

Wow. I never even thought about that. I guess I should do a better job keeping on top of those things now so that doesn't happen here!

I just noticed how trashed the kids' playroom is, but you know what... I don't care!

I guess nesting doesn't extend to the messes my kids make.

I've washed everything. I jsut want to rest these last few weeks and the only work I plan on doing is on their albums.
I have exactly 1 month until my EDD and I washed the NB dipes and GN NB sleepers, onesies, etc. yesterday. I'm just doing whatever prep stuff I can when I can. I know that I have freezer cooking to do, but I'm waiting for certain ingredients to go on sale, or for me to remember to buy things. If I can't cook, I'll do a little cleaning. Right now, DD has been in her "big girl" room full-time for about a week, but I don't want to rock the boat just yet by making changes to the nursery (like putting the crib back to newborn baby mode). I fugure she won't see what's in the drawers so I can fill them with clothes/dipes.

I also will be defending my dissertation a mere 12 days before my EDD, so I have to do my baby prep stuff as I find the time. If I wait until the last couple of weeks, I may be too overwhelmed by other things.
