X-posted
Right now I'm on maternity leave going back June 1. We're planning that I'll have to work until next July when we get the bills paid off. DH brought up last night about the possibility of selling the van since it's worth more than we owe. If we did that I could probably leave work in Jan instead - 6 months earlier.
I don't want to work, will do almost anything to not have to. But is selling the van a good idea? The way to go?

If we sell it:
I'll have DH's crew cab truck to drive and he's going to get a beater car to drive to work that would also save us on gas money (A good idea w/ gas @ $3 a gal right now)
We'll have the bills paid off around the end of the year instead of next summer, which means I can quit sooner.

If we keep the van:
It'll be paid off in just over a year.
It's roomier than the truck.

I need some advice. What else should we consider? Which is the better way to go?
I need help!!!! : PLEASE!!!!!!!!

How old are the van and truck? How much money are you going to end up spending to maintain a beater truck?

It's really nice to have a vehicle in the family that can carry your family, some friends, and their stuff. I don't know how many the crew cab seats to know if it can do this. I still drive a 4-door sedan but when I go to a school function almost every car is an SUV or minivan. Dh has an SUV so we can tote friends around when needed.

If the van is new enough that you'll still have it when your baby reaches car pool age I'd definitely think about keeping it.

Do you mind driving the truck? (I hate driving dh's SUV, that's why I ask)
