Hi everyone. since I'm on partial bed rest I thought I would do something useful like register
We're having a green theme, though we're registering at Toys R Us to make it easier for people who don't have access to an online store, etc. However, I do wish to register online for cloth diapers.

1) Does anyone have any suggestions for a good place to register which sells a range of cloth diapers?

2) What are some absolute musts to register for?

3) What are some other, non essential, items which you really like? I am sort of not minimalist.. though I work to be

Cheers,

I registered on Babies r Us too, and registred for the gDiapers there. We'll see if anyone gets them... My non-essentials were mostly cute clothes (non-essential because I have lots of hand-me-downs coming from a friend of a friend) and some little toys. Have fun!

Ah, I missed your question about the essential items. I'm a new mom, so I used this post to figure out lots of the stuff I needed: http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1041658

If you want to take a peak at my registry, search my real name: Sunshine Watson. It's still a work in process...

I use myregistry.com and have registered cloth diapers from clothdiaper.com. Their diapers are a lot cheaper than others. No, I'm not spending $18 for ONE diaper!

I'm only registered for the basics:

Diapers
Diaper accessories (wipes, wetbag, pail, liners)
Diaper bag (actually just a messenger bag)
Car seat
Bath seat
Bouncer
Bed liners (we're co-sleeping and I don't want our bed to get leaked on all the time)
A few basic newborn and 3-6 month outfits/onesies
A Baby Bjorn. We already have a sling but I think Chris would take to a more structured carrier better than a sling.

You definitely need a stretchy wrap baby carrier on your list. IMO they are a non-negotiable necessity!!
There are some inexpensive options that are gift-giving friendly. (Moby is one) They are wonderful to use from day one.

You could also register for 30 or so cloth wipes since you're cd-ing and also trying to go green. Just a basic face cloth type wipe does the trick. I imagine most diapering websites will have an item like this.

I love my wipe warmer for my cloth wipes, so nice for baby in middle of night changes. My little guy would smile like no tomorrow when he felt the warm wipe, and now that he is two he'll tell me in no uncertain terms if they are "too cold, too cold!".

And get lots, like 36, because while cloth wipes work a million times better than disposables, you'll still go through a lot with certain blowouts and its better to have too many than not enough.

Something I think I will get this second time around is a wool, sheepskin like liner for the infant carseat to make it extra cozy for winter - organicgrace.com. They have all kinds of neat eco-friendly, non plastic alternatives, but their selection is far from complete and no diapers.

Oh, and if you do register for clothes (because that's just what some people like to do) be sure to put some bigger sizes (3-6, 6-12, and 18 month) in there, because they do grow so quickly.

Thanks, everyone, this is really helpful. We bought all the big things ourselves and so we're concentrating mostly on the diapers and wipes, etc. I have found a diaper place in my state, so was happy to register there.

Keep the ideas coming! My registry is a work in progress

Target sells good cloth diapers- they have Bum Genius AIO and one size, and I like those a lot. There is also amazon.com and they probably have a large variety of cloth diapers.

I just made this list on Amazon for a friend... some of these are less a MUST than just stuff we ending up purchasing that we found really useful.

You really don't need much for a newborn, though, especially if you're nursing. But you can register for some of the fun 6m+ stuff. People like to buy you cute things.

My list.

I did a favorite books list, too... here it is.

Amazon.com and several other sites will allow you to add anything to your registry from any online store. I may end up doing that so I can grab different cloth diapers and carriers/wraps from different stores. They even have a "Add to Wish List" or registry button that you can stick on your browser. It's pretty slick.

Thanks for posting the minimalist's shopping list, I am going to swipe that

I didn't know about being able to add anything from any online store! I've started an Amazon.com registry too, mostly for cloth dipes. I'm going to have to figure that out so I can add some of my favorite etsy.com items.
