I did it! I made my first diaper using the free Mamabird pattern, two old tshirts from my husband and a Gerber flatfold for a stuffer. I made a pocket fitted so slight adjustments from the AIO pocket pattern, but it turned out great. This is only my second sewing project ever (I made some pantyliners last week when I got my new sewing machine), so it was great to learn about how to use a pattern, elastic, velcro, etc. My son is napping now, so I can't wait until he wakes to try it out on him!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...irdDiaper1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...rdDiaper1a.jpg

Well the diaper looks pretty good, but the rise is quite low. But I think that's something I can adjust on the next diaper. Also the cheapo flatfold stuffer really wasn't all that absorbent. But that's also something that is easily changed. I will definatly try this pattern again!

Kylatay, I just used old 100% cotton tshirts. There are four layers and then a six layer stuffer inside. Definatly need cover with this diaper! Btw, what does NAK stand for? I've seen that used a few times in here, and I can't figure it out. Thanks!

I love it! I made my niece a diaper out of old t=shirts and my sister said it was the most absorbent thing ever.

Be careful though, making diapers can be addicting.

It looks great. What size did you make? I just made my ds (18lb17 month old) the size big and the rise is actually a bit long on him. He just grew out of the size little - but they fit him for a long time. He is such a tiny short baby. lol

I made the large size for my 22mth, 26lb boy. But he's always been really tall for his age, so maybe that's part of the problem. And its very possible that I screwed up with tracing or cutting or something. For the next one I'm just going to add a little to the pattern and that should help!

Thanks for the compliments, I'm really happy with how it turned out. The Mamabird pattern can be found here I will be trying this one again, just tweaking it a bit to fit my son better.
