I took Gabriel as a "Mommy 'n Me" outing, and we loved it! Absolutely fantastic, and so many hidden jokes, that ya have to see it twice. Just a really upbeat movie.
Here is another vote in favor of Shrek II. We all loved it even Mr. Grumpy Man.

It was funny, clever, good family fun with one sexy man (and one cute kitty).

p.s. what happended to the spoiler tags?
yay!! i can't wait. we're going to go this weekend. We are watching shrek 3D the prequel...its a little short in 3D with glasses and my kids LOVE it.

hey, I love it

yay. i'm all excited
I should mention....some of the humor is pretty adult oriented. Little kids wouldn't pick up on it but I don't know about 8-10 year olds. There was one joke about a boy wearing a woman's thong. Just thought I should mention...
The 4 of us ( me, dh and boys) went to see the matinee yesterday and it was great. There were only 4 other families there so we had the place to ourselves and the kids LOVED it. I cannot wait for this to come out on DVD. We are even having a Shrek party tomorrow for my sons 4th bday!

Great movie and the soundtrack sounds good too. We have the first one and the kids love it so I have to get this one too to break things up! :LOL
We took our daughter (5 1/2) to see it this past weekend. We loved it! Yes, there's a bit of off-color humor but it went right over my daughter's head. LOVED the Puss In Boots character - he's even funnier if you're a cat owner.

DD wore her Shrek ears (they're on a headband - her dad found them somewhere in L.A. a couple of years ago) and all the other kids in the theater were asking her where she got them.
The whole family loved it. But I agree, some of adult humor was borderline for the 8 and above crowd. I didn't really want to have to explain underwear fetishes to 9 y.o. dd.

Puss in Boots was our favorite!
Is there as much fighting in this as there was the first? My ds is not allowed to watch Shrek (the first one) anymore because he would always want to fight like the knights and he would get out of control. Is there anything like that in this one? I asked him if he wanted to go see it and he said "no I cant watch shrek"
Both my kids wore their ears too!!! We got them at Universal Studios when we met Shrek in person! Everyone was asking us where we got them too. Now you can get some in the party section at Wal-mart but they are not as nice as they "real" ones:LOL
