I was sick last week with some type of stomach thing. I recovered and now this week I'm sick with something different. Respitory, ears, nose, and throat thing. This is really unusual for me. I wonder. I haven't been taking prenatals for months. Maybe my nutrition is not optimal? Should I start with the prenatals again? Is it common to get sick more often when you are breastfeeding? This is the third time I've been sick in 11 months. Like I said extremly unusual for me.

It's a real pain when you keep catching stuff. I've had periods like that, when I've been sick several times in a row then I've gone years without catching anything. I've been nursng 7 months now and neither me nor dd has caught anything so far. I've never heard that BF makes you more susceptible but I suppose if you're not eating well and resting that could do it. I mean I know we're supposed to eat well, rest etc etc but who can do that all the time? So I kept taking a multivitamin when I ran out of prenatals. I figure it doesn't hurt.

Know what you mean! I'm just getting over pneumonia! I've never had it before and attribute it to being pooped out. Being a momma is hard work! I hope my kids stay healthy 'cause I've blown 2 sick days on myself.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">

I would definately keep taking prenatals until you are completely done breastfeeding. My son is 5 months and everytime I forget for a long period (more than a week) I get sick.
