DS is 3 1/2 and although I think his inclusion preschool placement is great for him, I don't think all of his sensory needs are being met there. So, I'm trying to think of ways to add to his sensory diet at home--preferrably cheap and easy ways.

So, he loves to hike a canyon trail near us and I'm happy to take him there pretty often. I'm wondering if it would be appropriate to have him carry his backpack on the hikes. I was thinking I'd just leave it with his two, fairly light, notebooks in it. Does that sound like a reasonable amount of weight for a strong, sensory-seeking 3 1/2 year old?
