ATM our 7 week old twins share a co-sleeper attached to our bed. In a couple of months, though, we'll need to upgrade to a crib side-carred to the bed. Which leads me to these questions...

- What do you look for in a crib to be able to side-car it to the bed?
- Once you have acquired said crib, how do you actually side-car it?

Please throw tips this way!!!
Thank you! :

There's a lot of information on how to sidecar in the older messages here. You might try searching thru that.

we use the Jenny Lind crib at Toys R us- the side comes off to make a "toddler bed" so that's what you want to look for- just take the side completely off and butt the crib/mattress up againsed your bed- there will be a gap on the other side of the baby mattress and you can fill that with rolled towels, blankets or some people use the pool noodles (I want to ty that) but that's it really- just find a way to make sure the crib won't slide around (we have carpeting under it so that's not a problem. Congrats on your twins!

Find a crib that can have on side completely taken off. Also, make sure that the crib mattress and the mattress on your bed are exactly the same height. Then get some bungee cords and attach the legs of the crib to the bottom of your bed frame, so that the crib and your bed are tightly attached to eachother.

We found a cheap and secure way to attach the two together is with zip ties. That way it is easy to remove if you need to. Also positioning the crib in the corner helps.

We don't use a crib that turns into a toddler bed and it worked out fine.

We also took the side off a crib that converted to a toddler bed, raised the height of the crib platform up to the level or our mattress, and pushed the crib mattress over to be flush with ours.

We filled the gap on the other side of the crib mattress with a piece of sonotube - the heavy cardboard tube you use to pour concrete. It comes in pretty much any size you need to get it good and snug, and it's is cheap and easy to cut with any serrated blade. To make it a little nicer to look at I wrapped a quilt around it.
