How do you do this? DS is beating me up at night. He is almost 12 months old. We have been swaddling him up until this point, but last night I had to re-swaddle him maybe 6 times. He keeps breaking out of it. We got zero sleep last night. I want him to get used to sleeping without the swaddle, but I think my only option is to have the crib next to us (it would be great to actually have a use for it, right now it is full of clothes that he and DH play with). I have a platform bed, so it's not regular height. Thanks.

when we did this all we had to do was set the crib in the middle position, remove the sliding rail, tie a 2x4 across the side where the rail had been (for stability), and tie the legs of the crib to out bed frame. we have a queen bed on a 'hollywood' frame. the matresses lined up just about perfect. to compensate for the extra room in the crib from the rail being gone i folded a blanket up tight and put it in the space against the back rail.

we have been this way fr about a year. for a while dd did sleep mainly in the crib but now she mostly sleeps along the edge. it does give us a lot more room and when dd wakes up she can play in her crib while i try to pull myself together enough to attend to her needs.
