I was looking at presser feet on the singer website, and I came across one that claims to trim away excess fabric as you sew. It requires an overlock stitch to use. I'm wondering if anyone has ever used one? Does it compare to a serger?

I asked about them one time when I was in a SM store and the lady said they worked good on some types of fabric but not others, I forget which ones she said were good or bad though <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> I passed and just got the 1/4 in foot that I went in to buy.

I talked to the guy at my sewing store the other day...he said he tried it and it was a big waste of $$ and time, so I'm going to save my pennies for a serger instead. I think in the long run I would be happier...and for the price, well that is a big chunk of the price of a serger...well ok a little chunk. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

I was given one as a gift... I don't know the original cost but it was totally wasted. It doesn't work at all...
