Hi,
I have a very scientific type brain (which is why I'm going to be doing home birth, bfing, CDing, etc ) And I was wondering if there was anything that talked about the scientific process of the risks of vaccintaions playing a part in the side effects? I guess I'm just looking for more than just statistics, and would love some good ol' chemistry if any one has links to articles, etc.

Anyone have any links? This is more cuz I'm just curious, not because I *need* proof...

Thanks!

I don't really understand what you're wanting to see.

They haven't figured this out yet, the mechanism(s) behind vaccine reactions. Which is exactly the reason they cannot tell you in advance if your child will be one of the unlucky ones.

For autism specifically, you might wanna start with Kennedy-Krieger in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Zimmerman (ped neurologist for autism and immunology), and I forget off the top of my head the other one, are like autism gurus, lol. Anyway, Dr. Z is big on the genetic component(s) of autism and is trying to find a gene or series of genes responsible, as a result of his studies dealing with autoimmune disorders. I'd look into his literature if I were you. He's had about 5 or so papers out since about 1999.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the autism stuff... I would guess that if no body know the mechanisms that are involved, it would be hard to write an article on it... :LOL Thanks for the responses.

In my microbiology class (taught by a microbiology doctor with all sorts of initials after his name, MD, PHD, etc), we went in depth to the side effects that can happen with vacs, but my teacher was very pro vaxing... his logic was off, I think, he thought that if the percentage of people "helped" (ie not getting the disease) was more than "hurt" (harm caused by the vaccination) then EVERYONE should be vaccinated. It is very clear that there are side effects to the vaccination, and nothing was even mentioned about side effects that are long term. I guess, if you're dealing with straight statistics, in theory, his idea worked, but um, these statistics are people! I was actually very mainstream til I decided to go to school to be an RN... then I saw how everything needs to be questioned!

Anyway, enough of my little bird walk. Thanks for your answers.

Well, you specifically asked about SIDS. There is research that babies who have gotten vaxed are at greater risk of SIDS. (No, sorry, can't link you to anything --it's just what I remember reading.) Of course, pro-vaxers will tell you that's just a coincidence.

Heat is a factor in SIDS. (Overheating is now listed as a risk factor for SIDS.) More boys die of SIDS than girls (because they have higher metabolisms, so their body temp is likely to be higher), and more babies die of SIDS in the winter (when the windows are likely to be shut tight and the babes are more likely to be over-bundled.)

Apparently, the chemicals in the mattress (specifically flame retardants) break down and cause vapors at higher temperatures, so they are set off by the baby's body heat if the baby is overheated. The baby breathes in those vapors (especially if face down) and that can cause SIDS.

Previously-used mattresses break down faster than new ones, so you will see cautions about not using old mattresses (especially ones that were peed on).

Vaccines can cause fevers as the body attempts to fight off those diseases. A fever can cause increased body heat, setting off the chain of events listed above.

I didn't make this all up-- I've read it, but now I couldn't tell you where.

Derrrrr, I thought she meant sensory integration disorders not sudden infant death syndrome.

Thanks for that- SIDS, autism, all of it is good info! The fever/heat correlation kind of thing was just the kind of info I was looking for. Kinda a step-by-step logical dealie.
