OK, I realize this is a frequent question with varying answers, but! ds is a HEAVY wetter overnight, and has liquids as well (not going to change right now!). He currently gets changed once at night, but is still, in maybe 5 hours or so, wetting through a FB stuffed w/2 micro towels trifolded inside a trifolded prefold, inside an aristocrat!!! It's not leaking - he is simply soaking everything all the way through. At this point I would even try disposables, but none seem to be able to take it, and what a mess an oversaturated gel pellet pack is, yk?

If you have a master heavy wetter... what works for you?

That sounds like one of my sons. I used to do a Liz's cloth size 2 (hemp) w/2 hemp joey bunz inside a crat. I could also do that with a bumpy wool or sugarpeas wool. For pul, I used a motherease airflow. There were a couple other diapers I could do overnight, like spb, w/a hemp trifold soaker. Point is, I had a lot of hemp going on. mmm hmmmm HTH!

It's soaking through the wool because there is no absorbant layer before the wool. what is happening, is it's saturating the FB (a common problem with pocket diapers I've found) and then you have a wool on top of the FB without anything inbetween, the water has no where to go, so the wool fills up soaked and then wicks through. Ditch the FB and I bet you'll have instant relief. Make sure your 'crat is well lanolized, and then use a prefold trifolded with the micro towels inside, and another prefold on top, snappi'ed together, with the 'crat over it. I bet it'll work like a charm. PUL covers are worthless in that sort of case LOL

Oooh, thanks all! I am searching out hemp now, and am testing out the micro towels in a prefold all in another prefold - he looks *hilarious* with his big puffy booty but if it works!!!

Slightly related - does anyone have experience with the "Little Lambs" hemp inserts? I've tried the diapers and they were eh, not as horrible as some people say, but not the best... but hemp is hemp, right? Or, should I just scrape together the funds for something like Joey Bunz?

So many questions! Thanks, diaper expert mamas!

joey bunz are hemp jersy. nice and trim for 6 layers.
I dont know about little lambs. never tried them.
I do know (from all i have read) that hemp fleece is more absorbant than hemp jersey.
I know from here
http://www.fuzzibunzstore.com/store/...0&cat=4&page=1

I have/had a HEAVY HEAVY wetter, too. 3 Joey Bunz were not enough if that gives you any idea. The ONLY thing that I got to work (and it also dried in one dryer cycle) was a Premium PF with 2-3 Duz-it-Alls inside of it (fleece on top next to skin optional) and then a huge wool cover or Bummis to fit. I'd have to size way up on the cover.

to you though. Those heavy wetters are ROUGH to find a good solutions for. You might as well tried what worked for us. It's cheap to invest for one night & see if it does the trick for you. I tried SO many night time combos. Oh, the other thing that worked was a FCB Envelope with a Heavy Wetter insert and a THICK terry doubler, but it wasn't as cost effective & sometimes I did need just a bit more.

I tend to jump the gun and not read everyone's posts but I had to comment on this one!

DD situation is much like your's, super heavy wetter, and drinks during the night. I use either A) Large FB (she is 20 mos old, 29 lbs, probably 35-36 inches) stuffed with a JamTots one sized insert, a microfiber insert (MOE or cottonbabies), and a hemp or cotton doubler. Wool on top, cause it's quite bulky and lately I'm having fit issues with my FBs so the wool keeps everything in the diaper or I do B) XL FB stuffed with JamTots large insert, & a microfiber insert, all covered in wool.

She soaks it all through most of the time, sometimes not, but she can last about 12-14 hours in those.

ETA when I say soaks it through, I don't mean through the FB! Just the stuffins is soaked in the mornings.

I'm using a Rumpsters mini-diaper and a Bummis SWW cover. The mini-dipe unsnaps for washing a bit and b/c of that, it creats a pocket so you can stuff more into it if needed.

Get yourself one of Crickett's diapers.. I found that, when my son was wetting through his pockets, an all-hemp fitted diaper with a doubler was just the thing. She has some seconds...nine bucks for a hemp fitted is a good price, and these have held up very well (I had one seam partly let go on a doubler, but it doesn't hurt the performance, and once it's snapped in it's invisible). When DS was in his soaking-wet stage, I would fold up a microfiber washcloth behind the doubler - now I just use the diaper itself. All you'll need otherwise is a cover. I have the two-layer Stacinator fleece covers, so if you want to talk about a duck butt...

We love our Dream-Eze from www.mtdiaperstore.com with wool over the top. So far, she's not soaked all the way through, so we haven't needed super wool, but I'll bet your crat will work. She soaks everything else we've tried pretty well. . .
