Silk Recieving Blanket

I want to make a few silk blankies for my blankie obsessed baby boy. Where would you get silk that is at least 42 in. wide? I was thinking of using a play silk but they just aren't big enough. Also, any sources for a super soft flannel?

I have gotten fake silk at Jo_Anns. Its nice durable fabric, comes in many bright colors.

I made a bunch of play cloths out it that my girls play with most everyday.

Edited to add the fake silk is 42"

Thai Silks carries scarves(and yardage) in the size you want i.e. 45x45. They are blanks so you would have dye them yourselves. They have charmuese(satiny on one side) which is what I used when I was on a blanket making kick. But the 8mm china silk is good to and some WAHMs do carry playsilks in the 45x45 size.

If you don't mind a little extra craftiness, dyeing the silk yourself would be fun.

ma2maya...I looked at your site..WOW! You do some really beautiful work. I also looked at Thai Silks, are you familiar with the Habotai Scarf? Do you think that would work?

Thanks :-}

Yes, the 8mm habotai silk scarf will work. I 've done them before with that weight(8mm) as well as 10mm.
