I've ready quite a few strings about mucousy poop, but am a bit confused. Those of you who are seeing it in your baby's poop - is it like stringy mucous or are we talking like gelatinous blobs of mucous? Sorry to be so descriptive, but my 10 week old DD has been dealing with a lot of green poop recently - and some of it is "stringy." The best I can describe it is - when I was trying to figure out if I was ovulating when trying to conceive and checking cervical mucous - the stringy kind meant I was not ovulating (that's the consistency of my DD). But the egg white type mucous meant I was. Should the stringy one be one to be worried about?

Thanks!

It can be either. Poop is just poop and it has no gelatinous qualities. Yes, it's possible that children who are extremely congested and teething could see blobs in their poop although I've never seen that and my son's drs. never seemed to consider this when they saw it in his poop (the stringy kind, btw). We also had a foster daughter who had the more blob kind of mucous in her poop.

Both had pretty strong dairy allergies with no other symptoms whatsoever (well, my son had "colic" that didn't go away until the dairy did and my former foster daughter eventually wound up with blood in her diaper--but no rashes or diarrhea, etc.)

But in the early stages, none of the drs. asked if the kids were congested or teething. And honestly, I don't remember if they were or weren't at the time.

I have probably started half of those threads. Our DD has had mucus...always. It is never big blobs but small blobs, strings etc. Like a snotty nose but green or yellow because of poop. How's that for descriptive?

I am still worried but it seems somewhat common according to Mothering mommies.
