I have made some major changes to the site:

babyfairies

Especially in the way of organization and multiple pages (thanks so much for your valuable opinions!).

My next question is....

Do you find this font I have used more annoying, or do you like a stylized font? Do you like some stylized fonts, or do you prefer that the font not be messed with - otherwise it detracts from the products?

I tend to prefer something like Microsoft Sans Serif or Courier New, but thought this fun for kids stuff. Now, I have done research - looking at other sites I like and find that I am more and more liking the simplicity of a lot of the sites, fonts, clean graphics, etc.

On that note, I am also thinking about having a logo done in place of the photo, which I like, but I am thinking something more stylized would be better.

Actually, your fonts aren't showing up for me. I looked at the source code and it looks like you're using unusual fonts. If someone doesn't have them installed on her computer, it defaults to a standard one, so I think I'm viewing your site in Times New Roman.

.... actually I can see the font in the green button menu, so if that's just done in the code then I must have that one installed on my computer. (I like it. )

The fonts only work if the person has them installed on thier computer. So if they dont have it installed it could default to something 'less attractive' and actually screw up the way you page looks. My suggestion is to alwasy stay with the simple fonts for content, keep the fancier fonts (if you must or they are appropriate) on the logo and/or buttons.

I don't mind the font . . . but it does make it a little more difficult to read (not impossible to read, but you do have to work at it a bit).

Seems as if we don't want people to have to work at reading our websites (especially with the short attention spans we tend to have on the net) so it might be better to go with a plain font style.

The photo is darling, but a logo will propably look cleaner, more stylized as you said.

Looks good, though! Beautiful stuff.

Yeah - exactly - this is what sort of suddenly occurred to me.

The log is really a tough one, though since I am not sure where to go with this. I have created one myself (posted on another thread for opinion) but I am not in love with it. HERE

I know, it doesn't have much to do with babies OR fairies, but... believe it or not, I really don't want some sugary-sweet pic of a fairy or anything like that. I LOVE the GO GOOSE GO! logo, but I am not sure if I also want to go with a cartoon type logo (not just because I don't want to look like I am copying someone who has items that are similar in some ways). I would also like to have something that can by put on my labels, unlike the photo.

It has a sentimental value so I am reluctant to get rid of it, but for the sake of commercial appeal - with how symbols, logos, and such work on the mind as far as readability and memory - it is probably best that I use a logo.

I had that one, and one for my new store done on Design Outpost. It is a contest-style design site, where you offer a "prize" for your logo, banner, brochure or whatever, and designers submit their entries to your contest. I think it is great because you get to see ideas from a bunch of different people who have a range of styles. You can ask for revisions too. Once I chose a design, I then hired that person for other corporate identity projects.

Wow - that looks like a really cool idea. Those things always intimidate me, since I assume they are waaaay out of my price range. I am going to take another look at it - I love the idea of tons of people clamoring to please you. lol

I should have a contest to have someone pick a new username for me, since I get to change it for free (I found out that this is a senior member beni)!
