I need some help. Dd has very skinny legs. She is 12 weeks and 11 pounds, 25 inches. We have been using infant CPFs and newborn proraps with great success. But she is growing out of the proraps. I know this because they are so tight that poo keeps being forced out the tops and edges. I have the next size up but the leg holes are WAY too big. I also have an XS Bumkins wrap, s whisper pants, newborn little lambs AIO, and a newborn pocket type diaper. The AIO is too small yet the legs holes are still too big. The bumkins and whisper pants legs are still huge. The pocket is the only one that fits (on the tightest setting which looks like it hurts her tummy). Once she grows a little I have small little lambs, a small fuzzibunz, a small happy heiny, S bumkins cover, and some small Dappi covers. I have (just for kicks) tried these on her. They all fit around the waist but again the legs are way too big. Does anyone have any advice for either making what I have work or for cheap covers that cater to skinny legs. Would cross over velcro tabs on the HH and pockets work....can I sew these myself or will I ruin them? In the future I would also like to buy some more AIOs and pockets but I know her legs are always going to be skinny (dh and I also have disproportionately skinny legs....). Any skinny baby advice here? If only I could sew well enough to make dipes.....

I have the same problems with Caden. Big waist, skinny thighs. Mother Ease covers have always worked well on my skinny legged guy. The Rikki wrap is particularly nice and adjustable. I have a Bumpy day cover that is also nice and soft around the waist while being tight enough to fit around the thighs.

I had the same problem with dd-skinny legs in proportion to her Buddha belly- and used ME AF covers in ML when she was that age. She changed shape and stayed in the ML size until potty-training. They were very adjustable, but left red marks on her legs so I alternated with Aristocrats. What didn't work for us: Nickys, Dappis and Biobottoms.

we had the same problem with our round bellied, skinny legged son. petite toddler fuzzibunz worked great after he was 4mos old or so, as do ella's, and happy heinys pockets. little lambs and motherease aios work well. covers that worked were poly nikkys, lambkin wool (run small), bumpy day, litewrap (size small), and stacinator so simple. we also just discovered snugwees, which fit great (we have a pocket dipe, but she also makes covers). covers that did not work b/c legs were too big: motherease airflows, bummis pull-on, bummis super whisper wrap, bumpy wool, nikky wool, niji.

good luck!

What will work or won't work will depend largly on sizing. Some covers do run a little big and work well when you go to the next size down. Others, as you have noticed, don't do well that way, cuz then they are too tight in the waist. I'd imagine those newborn proraps are digging into your baby's back about now.

I think having some cross over tabs would work well. You wouldn't ruin the dipes by doing that. I put cross over tabs on a lot of covers. I'm not completely sure about PUL aio's though. I know nothing about them. Never used them. crossing the tabs will really make the legs a lot smaller. I would try putting the diaper or cover on, and seeing where you would need to put some. Definately check with the person you bought from about successfully adding velcro!! good luck!

I have this problem with almost everything that fastens in the front. I have tried dappi wraps, gerber, bummis (wraps & pull ons), happy heinys, fuzzi bunz, bumpy, chumbas, & angelwraps. As much as I wanted them to, they did not fit right. Angelwraps did work after Amy made some adjustments to her pattern for us.

What does work.....side snapping (most anything-ME Airflow, snapdragons, sugarbums, proraps ss covers, little lambs aios, buckey bottoms), dappi pull ons, my wool soakers, and the first front fastening dipe......Ellas diapers.

Another thing I thought of is that covers/AIOs with either 2 rows of front snaps (ala fuzzibunz or freshies trimwrap), side snaps (ala snugwee or stacinator), or a WIDE velcro panel in the front (like bumpys & nikkys) tend to be most adjustable. I think the bummis sww would be PERFECT if it had a wide velcro panel, but because it didn't, we could never get the right fit.
