does anyone else have a smal baby?

sophie was born at 6lbs 1oz, she was 8lbs 110z at 9 weeks and at 17 weeks she is 10lbs 2oz, she has only put on 1 1/2 lbs in the last 8 weeks (she was weighed today)

she started on the 4th percentile then fell to the 2nd now she is just below the bottom line

i plan to be more aware of feeding her, i feed on demand but bless her heart she is so layed back she isnt at all demanding, i am going to try to go for 2 hourly in the day and no longer than 5 hours at night (the other days she slept 15 hours so i will have to do some waking up i think)

i need to be more aware of what i am eating and make sure i eat more

any other ides - anyone who has had an expereince with this or who has the same concerns?

No experience with slow weight gain or advice, just s. And you know what? It's frustrating and sometimes scary being a new mom, no matter how many other babies you have or how fat or skinny your new one is. So hang in there and I hope that the two of you can get into sync and work things out

thanks kathleen

i was worried earlier but she is so bright and sociable and smily that i have managed to not worry too much about her, she is just a little thing!

but i am going to make sure i set the timer for every couple of hours to feed her just to make sure and not let her sleep too long without feeding, she slept 15 hours straight the day before yesterday!

Lucy was born at 8 lb 12 oz. at two months she was just 10 lb 4 oz. Not much weight gain at all. the dr. wasn't too concerned but said to come back for a weight check in four weeks.

I know I shouldn't be worried and all, but darnit, I *do* worry about it. She certainly doesn't seem to be suffering at all as she's quite alert, smiley and loving to her sisters! She's certainly not lethargic by any means!!! But I do worry more with her because she is much more of a demanding baby than the other two were. She likes to be held. All the time. Or else she gets fussy. So then, in my way-too-busy mind, I think, "yikes... maybe she's fussy because she really *isn't* getting enough to eat!" ... but really, I don't think that's the case at all. It's hard to have a little baby. ... oh, and I think I'm more concerned or at least aware of things because Lucy is my first bf'd babe.

Lucy is plenty long (24 3/4 Inches) but just hasn't packed on any pounds. I really was hoping she'd be a nice round thing with rolls on rolls... but there are no rolls to be found. And I know it shouldn't hurt, but when I see the comments about the cute rolls all from mama's milk... well, I take it to heart and think somehow I'm failing.

I do try to keep in mind though, that M and K were ff, but they weren't full of rolls either. They were long, skinny babes too.
