After expressing much interest in dh & I planning to wear our little monkey once, baby comes, we decided to get my mom & dad their own for mother's/father's day. This is their first grandchild and they are soooo excited. Dh and I have several slings and an Ergo. I got my mom a beautiful black silk/toile Mamma's Milk sling from the coop on here and now to find my dad one. I would love to get him an Ergo because that seems to be like the type of carrier suited for him, but they are too pricey and we just bought dh one.

So I found the evenflo snugli online today for about $10 including shipping and bought it on impulse b/c it was so cheap. Now I am wondering about others opinions who have used it. And those who didn't like it for various reasons- would it be ok for the occasional grandad use as opposed to daily, routine use by dh or myself?

Thanks!!!

I hate to say it, but there is a reason you paid 10$ for it. I would gift it to the thrift store and get something better. A pouch (lots of choices here) sized right for him would be inexpensive (returns and retired prints are 30$) and a lot better. HTH and congrats.
ETA check out FSOT for deals too.

Since he's older, I'd probably nix the snuggli and get a more supportive carrier. More support for the baby, less pain for him (not that I'm assuming all older folks have back pain, it's just... common...).

If he wants a front type carrier with good support and an Ergo is too much, try a mei tai. They really are easy to figure out (read: I use one, and couldn't figure out the snuggli to save my life) and distribute the weight over both shoulders/back/etc. The pouch would be simpler, if he doesn't have any back or shoulder problems, but if he does, go with the double shoulders of a MT =D
