I dont even know where to start...I am in tears right now. I went to my dr. last week because I needed to get my thyroid tested (i have hypo-thyroidism). Anyway I have other issues going on including an autoimmune disorder that they have yet to put an actual name to. I asked if she could check for diabetes as well and also if there was a way to test for gluten intolerance. She told me she could run those very simple blood tests for me. Great!
Ok, so yesterday morning I called the office to see if my results were back and I didnt hear back from anyone til the afternoon when the nurse called to tell me they didnt get my last name from my message so they didnt call me back....HUH? They had my #.....but whatever...
So this morning a different nurse calls to tell me that my TSH was normal. It is 3.00. I said well, I can tell my thyroid is off because I feel crappy and she said...No, it's normal....grrrrrrrr then I said...did she run a t3 and t4.....she said no...just a tsh....grrrrrrr I said what was it back in Sept when she ran it? She said .4 HELLO...BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!!! I felt more normal back then !!!!!!!! Obviously my medication needs to be increased.....
Ok, then I asked her about the other tests...and she said SHE DIDNT RUN ANY OTHER TESTS....I am so furious right now. I wasted TWO HOURS at my dr.'s office with my two year old and six year old sons who both have attention problems!!!!! I wasted that time and have NO ANSWERS or worse WRONG answers I really thought she was trying to help me figure things out and she isnt.....and to make matters worse, I really wanted to start a gluten free diet, thinking it would help my problems but my husband didnt want to do anything drastic til we had test results.....I am literally in TEARS....I just am so FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry for the vent.....

I read some book about thyroid a couple of years ago.

In the book they said you really have to push to get the tests you want.

You also really have to push to get the meds ajusted for YOU, or even trying differant meds. They(drs) say the number is in the correct range but that doesnt mean its correct for YOU.

So so true. And their range of "normal" is so dang huge that what is probably abnormal doesn't show on their tests ...
