While laying down with 8yo DD for bedtime snuggles the other night (a time when we often chat and decompress about our days), she got all serious and said there's something really important she needs to talk with me about; something she needs to tell me.
"mama, I think I'm a lesbian."
Somewhat taken aback, I said, oh, okay, great
Then she said
"yeah, I'm sure I must be gay because I think boys are totally gross!"
:lol I had to hug her and tell her that not because she's gay; it's because she's eight!
So cute and so funny!
We had a nice long talk about how being a lesbian generally means one is attracted to women; it doesn't mean hating men. Funny to notice how her experience and interpretation is very much influenced by being raised in a queer home.
