Had my first MW appt today and was surprised that she wanted to do an early US for dating (my cycles have been all over the place since I'm still BFing anywhere from 24-35days). It took me by surprise- I was expecting not to have an US until much later I guess. I prefer as few ultrasounds as possible, but I also don't want to be stuck with an early due date and face the "42wk limit"...that and I'd love to see our LO. It makes sense with the way my cycles have been. So just sharing in my excitement and anxiousness. I think also the US will get me more excited and less depressed about this unplanned pregnancy...and it will make it more real for DH.

I totally understand you.
I just saw my midwife again today and we heard the heartbeat nice and clear. It just totally made my day. If everything goes fine, I will have two ultrasounds, one for dating and one around week 20 or so.

If you're worried about due dates, the earlier they do it the more accurate it is. later u/s can be quite a bit off both with dates and with size estimates.

OP, if you do end up going past 42 weeks, you can always remind them that u/s isn't always accurate to the day (even early) and that you aren't sure of dates. YOU are the one in charge!!!

I had my first OB appt last Wed. and they did an u/s right there in the office the next day because I was very unsure of the dates since I had a "false" period the month after conception, plus he thought there might be twins because of the very high hormones.

Anyway, it showed it at 10.5 weeks and wow, to see the heartbeat and the baby rolling over! It made it very, very real now!

I kept saying are you sure? So I'm definitely pregnant, lol?
This was an extreme surprise and definitely unplanned pregnancy.

It's amazing. It really did actually help me feel better to see the little baby in there! When he rolled over...that was it.

Got to see our LO today!!
: moving around, HB of 161, everything looked good. Due date from US is Nov 7th which is better than Nov 5th so I'm content. It definitely made me smile and it made things more real for my DH (who tried not to go with me today until he got the look of death from me!)

yay on seeing your baby!

i finally have my first appt. on friday, i'll be a day shy of 10 weeks....i think. they also said that i'll have an u/s on the following tuesday which i am so completely excited for. even though i'm hearing the heartbeat now my life has been incredibly stressful and i just really want to see my baby flipping around in my womb. hearing the heartbeat really calmed my nerves but seeing the bean in there will be amazing.

shakenbake, this is my last chance for a girl too. it's funny though part of me really wants a girl and the other part is terrified of having a girl!

I'm in the same boat, I'd love a little girl, but I am so good with boys now.
