because dd is allergic to everything and I want to expand my repertoire.<br><br>
I thought I'd share my opinion in case others are thinking about it...<br><br>
I decided to try a roux first, which normally I'd make with butter. Now, I don't know whether all sauces made with shortening are this good, but WOW!!! I was blown away by its yumminess. Sooooo smooth and creamy and light-tasting; not at all what I expected, thinking Crisco.<br><br>
I know the jury's still out on whether this stuff is good or bad for us, but we don't have a lot of dietary vice in our house, so I'm sticking with palm oil!!! (I bought tropical traditions organic b/c it was on sale.)<br><br>
Now to figure out what else I can make with this stuff besides baked goods and creamy sauces...<br><br>
P.S. Dd didn't actually like the sauce I made (it was asparagus-based), but for the first time *ever*, I was more than happy to finish her food for her. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/eat.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Eat">:
