So I adopted a cat! As per the suggestions of the ladies of this board, I decided to get an adult... she is 23 months and very sweet, but docile. She is gray and white and very quiet. I don't know what the heck to name her and was hoping for some original or fun or neat names for a female cat. Thanks!

Honestly, I try on names until the cat decides. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> But if you want possibilites to throw at her, cool beans. (My cats always like things that sound like... something a cat could say? Like some have a 'moooo' sound, and a 'loooo' sound, & long 'eeeee'- LillEEE, LilEEE? See?)<br><br>
If she is quiet...<br><br>
'Whisper'<br>
'Hush'<br><br>
Mind gone blank! Sorry, long day <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">.<br><br>
(Do you know what her name was before? Beauty decided she preferred 'Lily', but Priss wanted to stay 'Priss', she told me <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">. I call her Bobbi Prisstina though <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">.)

My friend has a cat named Banana! I thought this was very clever...she didn't name the cat -- it came with that name -- but I just thought the image of someone calling a cat Banana was too cute!<br><br>

Did she have a name when you adopted her?<br><br>
Maybe wait around and get to know her personality more...then, you'll just sort of find yourself calling her something. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

I second (or third) a picture. Some ideas anyway:<br><br>
Moony<br><br>
Alphabet<br><br>
Twizzle, or Tilly<br><br>
We have a (beautiful) grey cat we named Idaho (suits him well), my aunt had a great cat once named Eros, and I had a friend who named her kitty Eleanor Roosevelt. All pretty good names for each.<br><br>
Always wanted a cat to name Truck, but it doesn't sound like yours.

My sister just named her new grey kitty Merlin.<br><br>
I think it's fun to name a cat after a favourite character from a book or movie.

when i first had echo i waited a while to name him (i found him in a national park and thought he might have owners looking for hi and i looked to find hi but never did, it was a cold night with a big storm coming when i found him and he was extremely hungry and thirsty i think he was abandoned) anyhow after i realized he had been living with me for a few weeks and i needed to call him something i started looking at lists of names and asking hi what he wanted me to call him and stuff. he talked a lot at that point and sounded kinda like an echo so when i came across the nae echo it stuck. my cat cosset was named by my mo and i wanted to give her another name but i was 12 and cosset stuck and is a fitting name for her.

I like Merlin but since she's a girl, how about Morgan Le Fay? Or just Morgan or just LeFay?<br><br>
My last female cat was Maggie, from Cat on Hot Tin Roof. I didn't name her but I always liked it.<br><br>
My DD named our new female kitten Harmony, which I like too.<br><br>
Good luck. I have a hard time picking out names.

Thanks everyone for your creativity. I don't have a picture yet... well, several of her running away, LOL, but none up close as she is camera shy. She has white paws and is gray all over except for some white on her head. Very pretty. I thought Banana was funny when I read that. I would love to give her a funny name like that but my 2 year old would probably get very confused <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> and that would be hard to teach. Thanks for all these great ideas!!!!!<br><br>
Oh - she was named Yen when I got her, but I was told that she only had hte name for a month and it was just a random name because they need to give them names for filing purposes...
