I was supposed to have my ultrasound on Monday the 10th. I was hoping my boyfriend would fly down to go with me but he hasn't mentioned it so I just left it alone. Well I now have some other appointments I need to deal with next week so since he hadn't mentioned anything about coming I called and found another office that could squeeze me in this week. So now I'll be going tomorrow. I'm a little sad because he won't be with me. My daughter is extremely excited because the appt is after school so she will get to go with me.

So...my boyfriend did not want to find out the sex...I kinda wanted to...now that I am going by myself do I just say frig it and find out? I'm really not sure what to do...

Well, you don't have to tell him. I would probably find out.

But, that's a long time to keep such a big secret.

Honestly...men need to be told exactly what you want, so if he just hasn't mentioned it, ask him. As for telling him the gender, if you're like my mom you won't want to find out.

She got told my daughter's gender while my dad didn't want to know, and sitting in front of him she just talked about the baby as "she" and so he found out. It was funny afterward of course.

If you're still on the fence on Monday, at least have the tech write it down so you can decide to look later--after he discovers why you're right and he's wrong

WEll when I originally scheduled the appointment I told him it would be nice if he could make it. He asked me when was it...I told him. He said but i don't want to know what it is. I said that's fine I can always have them write in on a paper for me and not sy it out loud...then just laughed it off...he said alright and that was the end of the conversation. He never brought it up again so I didn't either since I don't want to nag. I am supposed to be moving up there this month and I know he is trying to make sure he has some money to help me with that...I don't want to add any extra strain..

I sent him a text msg today telling him I rescheduled the appt...he called me this evening to ask why...I told him I have training next week. He said oh and again that was the end of that conversation.

I am a little hurt that he is not taking more interest...but...oh well...so it goes I guess...maybe I am being too sensitive...

Some places will let you take a video of the u/s. Maybe you could do this and watch it together later? About a million times, of course!

Well...I went for my ultrasound today. I tried to not find out. I asked the tech if she could write it down so that I could look at it later if I decided. She said they don't do that anymore. So I told her let me think on it a little more. As soon as she started the ultrasound she say, "Ooooooooooooooooooooh I know what you're having!!!! Do you want to know? Oh I know I am such a bad influence." My daughter was with me so she's like yes tell us tell us. So finally I gave in. So......survey says....

IT'S A BOY!!!!!

I was so thinking it was gonna be girl! So I guess I am glad I found out because it gives me time to come to terms with it and the not being able to buy all the cute little clothes I have had my eye on.

My daughter yelled out..OH NO! NOW MY LIFE IS RUINED!!!!!!! lmao

Oh well...such it is...everything else looked good so I am thankful for a healthy baby and the new experience I will be having of being a mother to a boy.

Unfortunately the place I went today did not do videos...I was so dissappointed.

My boyfriend called me as I was getting up from the exam table to ask me how it went. I told him it went well and the baby looked good. He asked me if I found out what it was. I said yes. He said he was hoping I would have backed out and change my mind. He does not want me to tell him. He made us change the conversation and then got off the phone later because he said he felt like I was going to slip and tell him. Sigh....so how the hell are we gonna conversate for the next 155 days?:

Congratulations on having a boy. Boys are great, but you have to watch out with that pee pee. They are very good at shooting you in the eye with pee.

I am just a bit scared to mommy a boy after all these years of being a mommy to a girl...and I definitely know about the peeing thing...my daughter used to get me everytime...and she didn't even have a sharp shooter!

I'm sorry, but the tech told you "we don't do that anymore" about writing down the sex??? That's just plain strange. I mean why wouldn't they do it anymore, it's just the same as saying it aloud only you write it instead....

Otherwise: Yay! Boys are so much fun and you get to experience being the mother to a boy and a girl. That's just awesome.

My suspicion is that if they write it down and are wrong, they can be or possibly have been sued. It's all about the money. Follow the liability and you will get many answers (in my not so humble opinion!)

Oy. I don't doubt it...but still. Doesn't living in a litigious society drive you bonkers sometimes! I'd like to see them lie on the stand "I never said the words 'It's a boy!' and you can't prove it because I didn't write it down!"

Anyhow- Congrats on your little boy Your daughter sounds like a hoot!
