I made my own cleaners using the recipes from "Clean House, Clean Planet." The first day I loved them. They smelled so good. Worked so good. I felt super cool and "green." But my dilemma is that my soft scrub imitation and my toilet bowl cleaner separate in to soapy liquid on top and a brick of baking soda on the bottom, even if just sitting for a day. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do about it?

I'm not sure what recipes you're using, but I frequently use a baking soda and water mixture for a variety of uses, sometimes with a little castille soap mixed in. The baking soda always separates out. Luckily I use bottles that have good lids, like old ketchup bottles, etc. I just shake the bottle 'till everything's mixed again and go. You'll have to shake it up again next time but it's worth it to have safe and healthy cleaners.

Yes, that happened to me too.

It doesn't happen if I make the one that has more water in it though.

For scrubbing the tub, I found it's just as easy to sprinkle some BS around and then squirt in a little soap and scrub them together.

I never made her toilet cleaner. I usually just use a squirt of soap or sometimes will dump in some borax.

Yeah I just normally bring the bs in the bathrrom and mix it just before each use. I cleand yesterday and found that a mix of oxy powder and bs worked best for my bathroom. and I used the same mix on my toliet after cleaning it with my soap. helps deoderize.. BS ROCKS

The Earth Scrub has more water in it than the Earth Paste. BUT I just got my Earth Scrub out yesterday and found that it had done the same thing (hard chunk of BS in the bottom) after maybe a week.

So I just dumped out what I could in the tub and added some hot water to the rest in the bottle. I let it sit, shook it up, then dumped it out.

But I don't think I'll make it again. It's just as easy to sprinkle some BS out and then scrub it with a soapy cloth.

Mine does this too. I just add a few drops of vinegar and stir then shake. Voila - it's fine. I love the stuff.

That's a great idea, I'll try that next time.

I like mine too, but there is defiantly a flaw in the recipe. When I mixed it orignally I just added enough water until it was easy to shake and squirt, and though it still separates, it doesn't dry out. A good shake mixes it back up. What a mess it was to make though, with the vinegar!? I also use recipes from Better Basics. She has a little of everything and I like it a lot.
