I woke up at 2:44am to pee, and had pretty bad menstrual cramps. I couldn't get back to sleep, so around 3:30, I came downstairs to do research online - I wanted to see how much "pink tinged mucus" was normal for having had my membranes swept (mine just keeps coming). I still wasn't even sure what a "real" contraction felt like. At 4, I had a quick and surprising BM. I was still having moderate menstrual cramps. Around 4:30 I decided I should just try to get some sleep. As soon as I laid down, I felt this somewhat-horrible pain start up from within the menstrual cramps, rise up my belly to the top of the uterus, burn there for a bit, then go back down. I thought, 'well, this is different.' Then it happened again, and again, and again, about 5-10 min apart, and the menstrual cramping bit was continuous. I could still talk through them (except I didn't want to wake DH yet), so I just laid there, trying to sleep. It kept happening. Not all of the contrax were very painful - it was almost as if every other one was a bit stronger. DH woke up at 5:30 and I told him. I said to go to work b/c who knows if this is real or not...

It kept happening, and then around 7:30/8, I went to sleep, finally. I woke up a few times to some pretty painful ones, and then woke up for good at 9:15 to a bad one. Then I got up, showered, and dressed -- didn't get any. Just more menstrual cramping. Since then (it's nearly 10), I've only had two or so bad ones.

Agh! Is it all going away? Or just taking a break? I am so disappointed.

Well, I think I AM indeed in labor now. In fact, I know it. Wow. They're getting intense. Not soon enough in between though.

I went to Mommy and Me yoga, and they made it "Amber's Labor Blessing" day. SOOOOO sweet. My doula was there, too, and she said she'll come by in a few hours. DH thinks we should head to the hospital soon, but I want to wait a bit longer.

I'll write back later whenever I can!

Good luck, wait as long as you can to go to the hospital, b/c once you get there, the clock starts ticking (according to them).
