: I am not normally a beer drinker, I don't even like the stuff! But now it is all I want. DP likes beer and I just want to grab that bottle out of his hand. He got me some NA beer and it was soooo good.

So, do you think my body needs some extra B vitamins or something?

I am hoping that I will still like beer after the baby comes. DP always wants to go hang out at the beer garden and it is a bummer for me since I hate beer....

It's goofy, the cravings of pregnancy.

OMG!!! YES!!!

I went out to dinner a few weeks ago with some friends and we had BBQ and nothing goes better with BBQ than beer. Since then I have wanted an ice cold frosty beer SOOOOOOOOOOO bad. I can wait but man it would be YUMMY. :LOL

I want a Guinness. Intellectually, I really think it's safe for us to have one. But I'd feel too guilty drinking one so I don't. And, that really pisses me off. Fetal alcohol syndrome results from heavy drinking, 4-6 drinks a day, and is more prevalent in 3rd and 4th pregnancies (as the mother's liver is weaker from years of drinking). Yet I have internalized all this American (liability lawyers) propaganda that one drink hurts, mothers should have no such pleasures. Pleasure is not an acceptable reason for even the most minute of risks, but profit is- it's okay to pollute with dioxin, big corporations, if there's anything wrong with the babies we'll just blame the mothers. And as far as I can tell they are just as intelligent and physically able in Europe where a glass of wine during pregnancy is no big deal. But if I drink the beer, I'll feel guilty.

Well, proactiva...you don't have to drink a WHOLE beer. If you're really craving it, have a few sips and don't feel guilty (like you, I don't think a teeny bit of alcohol is a big deal).

Of course, I had half a can of diet coke this morning and felt like I was poisoning my babe. : I was super queasy, needed something carbonated, and it's all we had in the house (dh is addicted).

I am not a May due date person, but saw this post and it made me laugh. I had a beer taste my first pregnancy, and drank 'Kaliber' I think it was called. it was by the makers of Guiness, but it was a tan carbonated NA beer. it was soooooo yummy and I would get a six pack every month (or more : ). even though it was NA I know it still has trace amounts, and like others, I didnt want any guilt on my head if something ended up going wrong and I would ALWAYS think it was that NA beer

I did get some funny looks from our roofers at 8 months pregnant drinking 'beer' sitting on the front porch....but I wasnt about to move since I had a good view of sexy roofers :LOL

Does it make me weird if I've been craving a glass of port? :LOL

When not pg, I drink port once, maybe twice a month. But, for the past few days, I keep staring at the bottle longingly!

And, I hate the propaganda. I will still cook with wine while pg (only dishes where the wine is reduced heavily, even though there will still be trace amounts of alcohol). When I was pg with ds, I licked the drip off of the side of the wine bottle, and felt positively guilty for a week. I could never have so much as one sip while pg, even though I know a small amount wouldn't hurt.

Quite the opposite! :LOL I used to be quite a beer fan but since my first pregnancy, when my aversion to even the smell of it was so strong it sent me running, I can't take the thought of it! My merlot is another story though!

A couple of weeks ago, DH and I met friends at a brew pub for dinner. I took a couple of sips of DH's beer and it was so yummy. I would have loved a pint, but having those sips was pretty good, too. And guilt free!

Opposite here. If I even dine with someone who is having beer and I smell it... :puke

This makes dining out with DH very difficult. He likes his beer with dinner! Even the smell of his breath afterwards..... Blech!

I just had about 1/3 of a small glass of wine on sunday, while eating bread and cheese. I really enjoyed it and decided to release myself from the guilt. I won't do this very often, but I think a sip here and there is fine, as long as you are well fed/eating and don't over do it. Anyone else in my camp? I think it depends on you, and your boundaries. If you know you can have a teansy bit, the go for it, but if you can't stop.....don't go there!! Thoughts?

I had a half a glass of wine last night at a Home Interior's party at my girlfriends. I don't see a big deal at all with it?? But you're right, if you are the type that can't have just one, you probably shouldn't even start.

I'm not a beer drinker, but I've started craving good, red wine. I did in my first pregnancy, too, so much that I was trying to find a truly alcohol-free wine, without trace amounts of alcohol. Unfortunately, I never found one. I am drinking grape juice, but it's just not the same.
