Hi ladies. I sure hope some one can help me! It's sad that I don't know these things, so I'm making an effort to educate myself but until I can get through "Taking charge of your fertility" I need some help.

DH and I have been TTC for about a year now, we've just been winging it and I haven't been charting or anything. That's just how we wanted to do it. With Connor I got pg while using protection and being told because of my irregular cycles it would take me at least 6 months of TTC before something might happen. Boy did I surprise my doctor!! So glad though! I knew wouldn't be that blessed again this time, but I didn't know it would be this hard.

I saw my doctor in October and she suggested going in for bloodwork to check my progesterone levels 10 days after I get a postive O test. See what the results are and either continue trying on our own or maybe starting Clomid. DH and I decided to wait until January to do that and keep trying and using the Ovulation predictor kits until then.

In October I got my period on the 15th, I think it lasted 4 or 5 days. I got a positive O test on the 25th. We tried every other day for about 3 or 4 days.

On November 15th I got my period (it's really rare that I get my period on the same day two months in a row) it lasted 3 days. I got a postive O test on the 23rd. We were only able to try on the 24th and then on the 26th. (DH was working OT, kinda hard to do this without him!)

I was going to take a pg test tomorrow (the 10th) but I got my period today which is the 9th. Isn't that awful early?

I don't even know what I'm asking, I guess I'm just a bit confused that my period showed up so early this month. I know it would help if I had a chart, but I don't : but is there enough information here to help me decipher anything?

Thanks for any help! I'm a bit down today because of AF and the fact that my DH is out of town for a couple of weeks. We haven't told anyone that we've been TTC so I don't have any IRL friends to talk to about it. Thanks for listening!

No, as long as your luteal phase (the phase between ovulation and your period beginning) is a minimum of ten days, it's okay. One problem here is that you are having sex too late in your cycle to conceive. Once an egg is released, it's just about too late. Sometimes you can catch it on that day if you have sex shortly after the egg is released, but the egg only lives 12-24 hours, so the next day is DEFINITELY too late. The best time to have sex is in the few days BEFORE ovulation. Sperm can live 5-7 days in your body, so most women become pregnant via sperm that are already in the fallopian tube when the egg is released. Your cervical fluid (the stuff you find in your underwear) will likely become very wet and stretchy and slippery in the few days before you ovulate, and those are the days on which you should be having sex. Taking Evening Primrose or Robitussin can help you if you're not having that kind of cervical mucus.

Reading TCOYF will help you greatly just in terms of being able to read your body's fertility signs. It's very much worth doing!

Seriously skip all the tests at the dr. and just read the book! I am half way through it now and it is AMAZING! I was soooooooooo clueless to most of this stuff, and i thought I new a lot of that stuff. After reading it I know you will just have a million light bulbs going off in your head and I bet you'll get pregnant super quick (as long as you're both healthy and fertile) using her methods. PLease, please read that book, I can't tell you how much it has helped me, way, way beyond what I expected. Makes you wonder how any women do things without charting after you learn the things that it can benifit. It can even tell you with in a day or 2 when you concived which can give you an extremely more accurate due date. That knowledge can keep you from unessisary tests and induction. Many women who are induced who's dr. think their late really aren't because most women don't have the 28 day cycle that due dates are based on. HTH!

Definitely have sex before O, and definitely read the book. (Although even after practically MEMORIZING the book it hasn't happened for us)
