my last day of work before having ds#2 was June 25 and tomorrow I go back for the first time. I feel kind of like I'm starting for the first time. I'm so nervous...so much has changed since I worked last..

Awww...

I remember going back to work after having DD. I had been away for a little over 3 months but so much had happened in my personal life that I wasn't sure I'd be able to concentrate on work. But I did. The first few days were the most difficult. I was sleep deprived and tired. In that state I had to deal with the two hundred plus emails, letters, and calls my co-workers had thoughtfully left for me to handle on my first day back.

Can you ease into it by going back part-time and then switching to full-time? THAT was not an option in my office but it would have helped me to transition from maternity leave to full-time work.

In the UK we have 6 months maternity leave... and to be honest, I was pleased to return to work. I only worked part-time, but those few hours out of the house everyday was a relief. At the same time however, I did feel guilty occasionally about leaving my baby son, it was hard at times. But as I'm fortunate enough to be able to leave him with a trusted family member, then and now, I always knew that he was being cared for.

It is difficult and it does take time to adjust. Good luck
