Is anyone else itchy enough to feel like ripping every little bit of skin off would be a fantastic idea? It's not just my belly, my calves are actually the worst at the moment followed closely by my back. And this is my 5th baby so you'd think by now my skin would be stretched out enough that that can't be the reason? Anyways, I guess after venting, I am kind of hoping someone has some insight/experience with this and can offer some much needed advice or maybe just a suggestion to give me a moment's relief?

Oh, and I've tried Aveeno's oatmeal bath, and some of their intense relief overnight cream as well as the fragrance/dye free cream they gave us for my 18 mo old's eczema.

Anyone?

I get the itchy's from time to time but nothing crazy. I use tons of lotion (cocoa butter) and blackthorn oil. Whenever i have a moment of free time or when i step out of the bath or shower i lather it on!

This is what I was going to suggest. Extreme itching can be a sign of something wrong, choleostatsis is a problem related to the liver and can cause stillbirth.

It could also be PUPPS, but that generally has a rash.

The same thing happened with my last pregnancy, but not as severe. I asked my provider to test me for it then because I had googled pregnancy itching, and they told me that the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet would be unbearably itchy and my skin would look yellowish. So they gave me Zyrtec and Benadryl instead. When that didn't work I insisted that they test for choleostasis and it came back normal.
I love being wrong!
I ended up just dealing with it as best I could, but it is soooo much worse this time, I don't know if I can handle it (emotionally) for four more months!!!

I read an article about a woman who had it and it didn't mention her palms/feet or yellow skin, but she definitely had it. Her provider didn't think she had it either. I'd still test again to be sure. I'm sorry you're so itchy. It sounds awful

Yeah, I had cholestasis my last time around and I was itchy as all getout. I didn't turn yellow 'til the very end though... apparently that is actually pretty rare/limited to extreme cases.

Good that you tested negative. I think itching can be a normal thing but just consider if it persists to the point it's keeping you up nights, maybe follow up with another blood test. It can be very elusive until it's really pronounced...

Take care and enjoy cleaning out the tub after those oatmeal baths!!! LOL....

Do you have a Lush store near you? I've found that their Butterball bath bombs are amazing for itchy skin- I get them for DD when her eczema flares up. And there's nothing like a nice hot scented bath when you're uncomfortable, right?
