About what happened at the birth and if in her opinion there was anything we could have done to prevent the c-section and she made me feel better about it all. I have thought the birth over many times this week and I really couldn't think of anything I could have done differently (other than perhaps sit and wait in the hospital until labour started up again rather than break my water even if it took several days but with three other kids at home that wouldn't have been very practical and we may have ended up with a c-section at the end of it anyway KWIM?

My MW said that in her opinion after seeing how the cord was wrapped we would have ended up with distress if we had tried the pitocin (the only thing we didn't try) and even if I had not done the accupuncture induction and castor oil and waited for labour to come we would likely have ended up in the same place because what was left of her cord after the double wrap around her neck appeared to be not long enough to allow her to get far enough out to allow her cord to be cut from around her neck without distress.

She also made me feel better about what my options would be if we did end up having a fifth baby. Apparently midwifery care wouldn't be out of reach but we would need to do a prenatal consult with an OB before midwives could take over care. She stated that the OB would almost 100% guaranteed strongly recommend repeat c-section but that if I chose to decline that recommendation I could then proceed forward with a vba2c. She did state that she wouldn't feel comfortable with a homebirth but I wouldn't have a problem with that anyway.

Its all pretty much a moot point since we aren't planning more kids and DH is actually planning on getting a vasectomy in the next few months but for some reason it provides some comfort for me to know that there would still be options in the event of an act of God LOL... Is that silly?

Oops, thought I posted...don't know where it went!

I'm glad you got to talk to your midwife. It makes you feel more at ease to almost be 'validated' by a professional. (BTDT) Take care!
