Organic? The kind that velcro or snap closed as well? Anything really soft and yummy out there, but not too warm? Help me find something extra cozy.
:

We don't swaddle our babies in our house...I heard it wasn't good for them... However, my ds1 loves to swaddle himself, even to this day! He loves his fleece blankets.

I don't think it is organic, but the Miracle Blanket was the best! We had the velcro ones and had 4 of them, 2 each in 2 different sizes. Had we just got the MB to begin with we would have just needed the one!

I made some receiving blankets myself, just out of flannel that was cut to a square. Most fabric comes in 45 inch widths, so I had them cut me pieces 45 inches long. I hemmed them with a simple folded hem, made myself about 8 of them when I was pg with DS. He would kick out of them no matter what I did, and DD is the same... I was wrapping her there for a while to help her stop bapping herself in the face while she was sleeping, but she seems to not do that as much now so I just use them for regular blankets.

Yeah we didn't swaddle for long, but in the beginning we definitely did a lot. And we kind of sucked at it. So we could use some velcro or something. We have a lot of bigger blankets, but not many swaddlers. I got an email ad for some organic imse vimse ones and here I go...

Those swaddle designs look really cool too.

I haven't gotten to try it yet since DS is still in utero but we received a Cozy Cocoon for our shower. Its like a body sock. Its organic cotton although I think they come in velour too. Looks like it will be fairly easy to use - no velcro or snaps or anything! I'll let you know in a few weeks!

http://www.cozycocoon.com/index.php?p=home

The hospital blankets are the best swaddlers. We took home one when we left and when we were readmitted 3 days later for jaundice I stole about 9 more...they are the perfect fit. We used those for about 6-8w, then we used the velcro kind. I bought a miracle blanket and that thing haunted me...it was like a straight jacket...used it twice and then packed it away...hated it.

We had just been using regular recieving blankets - I tried a velcro swaddling blanket last night and it kept him from kicking it off - he still got his arms out. We only swaddle sometimes - have not figured out yet if he sleeps beter or not....about half the time we just put him in a cozy sleeper with a hat

My son started to get his arms out of the velcro type at about 2 1/2-3 months. That was when we discovered the Miracle Blanket. We just got him off the blanket about 2 weeks ago. I know the MB looks like a baby straight jacket...and it pretty much is, but DS would not sleep once he got his arms out of the velcro type so it was worth it.

The blankets designed for swaddling drove me crazy. I found I could get a much more secure swaddle with a large receiving blanket. You can't buy any that big, but my mom just hemmed flannel cut 50x50 for me. We got a swaddle blanket as gift and used it once. If you need help on swaddling with a normal blanket check out The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD from the library.

I use those cotton thermal type ones - the waffle weave. they are lightweight but nice and stretchy so they wrap around them easily. (and I have never had issues with the waffle weave imprinting on their skin) The flannel ones have always been too small for my chunky monkeys.
