So here's the scoop!

Two babies!!!! TWO BABIES!!!!!

We had already scheduled a sono. DH likes to have one and I'm not opposed. I had my prenatal first. At my 16 week appt (when I started care) I had measured about 18 weeks and gained 6 pounds. Not unusual for me to measure ahead.

At my appt, I had gained ANOTHER 6 pounds (unheard of for me! with babies 2, 3, and 4 I gained a total of 15 pounds each) and was measuring 28cm. Even though my belly doesn't even look big my uterus is huge!

So we went to the sono with my MW and sure enough, two heads pop up on the screen. It looks like a boy and a girl. Measuring on track/a little big. EVERYTHING that needs to be in place to have a safe birth is there. Nice, healthy sized babies in two seperate sacs with plenty of fluid. Placentas that look good and seem to be functioning well (since both babies are giant), one on my back wall and one on my front wall so NO fear of twin to twin. So we're still planning our home birth. There will be a couple extra midwives here, but I trust my MW implicitly and I know she won't bring women in who don't support my birth ethics. She said that if she was going to do her first twins, she was glad it was with me! Because I trust birth and I trust my body and I know that this can be done. I have no fear....of the BIRTH! I am scared crapless of adding two more babies to the mix!

I am so glad that I had a UC last time. I know I won't be railroaded into anything. I trust my MW (I adore her) and I know she trusts birth, too. I know the level of intervention will only be as high as to keep us all safe.

Chantel, that's awesome!! I was scared crapless about twins, especially after reading the multiples forum, but you know what, it's nothing like it. My babies are sooo easy! Of course, the idea of 2yr twins is a little more scary!

I think my real fear stems from nursing both of them. That, and juggling a 3 year old, 16-17 month old, and newborn twins! ACK! Just typing that makes me break out in a cold sweat!
