Anyone have one of these or ever make one? My sister and I talked about me wanting a 4th of July soaker for ds, and copying one I already own, she whipped up a bright red little pair of soaker shorts and added red and white embroided stars on the butt! It is soooo cute, I lanolized it this morning and I am waiting for it to dry so I can try it on....er, so DS can try it on.
Do these work as good as a reg soaker?

It was 100% wool (old gap sweater
)
I would love to post a pic-I am soo proud of her, I really think it is too cute! Is there an easy way to do it? We have a digi camera and all that, I am just a little technologically behind....any tips?

You have to "share online." Once you do that enter your own email address and then use the link provided in the email.

There are quite a few people who use recycled sweater soakers exclusively! IME, they work great, so long as the wool content is adequate (I won't go below 30% wool)

Woollybumbums and Black Sheep Crossing are 2 WAHM's that I know of offhand who sell recycled sweater soakers & wraps & stuff. Sarah at woollybumbums does AWESOME applique on the backs of the soakers she makes!

Wow - 11 in one day! I'm very impressed! I tried making one before dd was born and it took me quite a few hours (I had a really hard time with the leg cuffs). And it turned out that I think I felted the sweater too much because I could never get it on her. Would you mind posting which pattern you used?

TIA!

that is adorable! good job sis

I have a Reusabums (www.reusabums.com) that is both adorable and very functional (and very reasonalbe-it was 8.99 I think)-it is a shorts style and to die for! I have made several myself, and have found 100% lambswool Gap/Ralph Lauren etc sweaters at the thrift stores for 1-4, occasionally 5 bucks a piece-and you can make 2-3 out of one sweater (depending on the size of the sweater and soakers of course).
If you are careful and get the right size, you can use the wrist cuff as the leg cuff, so it isn't too bad.

Ou, very nice!

I've been trying to figure out mine today. Almost finished sewing it up (by hand)...and I'm still low low low on the learning curve.
Yours looks great!

Your sister did a great job.

I have made several, 1 for a graduate student mom who was diapering on a budget and her 9 month old dd had outgrown even the XL gerber pants. I made 1 as a diaper faery gift. I just got done making some for dd. I have discovered that I can get 2 bum sweaters and a pair of shorts/leggings out of one sweater, as long as it is big enough (no smaller than medium, really) and the wool content is adequate. I won't go below 50% wool.

Is there a link that will show how to make one of these? I have two 100% wool sweaters I have been trying to sell 'cause I know they *can* be used for this, because I don't know how to make them myself! I may end up making one on my own if it's that easy!
