So I am gathering up some stainless pots for soap making 8qt & 3 qt ( I am interested in the milk soaps too - My question is are these pots to be specifically designated for soap making? Will the lye cause a problem with them - or should I use a special cleaner/vinegar to nuetralize the lye?

I am fine with either way, but I figure if I can re use the pots then I will get good quality, but if they are for soap only then I won't go nuts.

TIA!

Any other suggestions Are welcome!

quick question: are you hot processing or cold processing the soap?

many suggest NOT using the supplies for anything else. however, if you are making hot process soap...all you are left with in the pan is...soap!

i'm very careful and make absolutely certain that i've rinsed everything completely...and i understand that the lye can break down my supplies quicker. i don't use wooden or plastic materials for food if they've been in lye...as they tend to be more porous and hold chemicals easier.

my pans, however...are still my pans. and they've done fine...and i'm still alive...and there hasn't been a single mishap.
