Does anyone else have a really social baby? My dd loves getting attention. When we are out and people talk to her she smiles at everyone, and she tries to get peoples attention too. No shyness or anxiety here. I hope she stays this way and its not a phase........

yes my ds has been social since he was very small. when he was around 5 months old he used to love going out in the baby bjorn facing out so he could look at everyone and smile. Now he is 17 months and he loves people and especially kids. He "talks" to everyone in his jibberish and people think it is very cute. He started in daycare in March (in a private home, he is the only child there) and we have not had any problems with separation anxiety. His needs have been met and we have never forced him to be with other people. Building trust and a strong attachment helps.

My dd is like that. She is 9.5 months now, and does not have even a hint of stranger anxiety. Whenever she see's a new face she gets all excited and does her best to get their attention. Just yesterday we were out to dinner and she was waving, smiling, and screetching to get the waiters attention. She loves people! She has always been like that. I wonder if thats normal. I thought she would have stranger anxiety since we don't ever use baby sitters or leave her with anyone. Boy was I wrong! She even gets excited to have a "stranger" (strange to her, not to myself and dh of course) hold her with no warm up period!

DD is definitely an extrovert, even though she does play a little shy sometimes, by hiding her head on me. But overall, she just loves people watching, loves smiling at everyone and really enjoys being out and about.

DS is an introvert and it kills me sometimes (being an extrovert myself) that he would rather stay home all day and play by himself. So I am enjoying my little social butterfly baby right now!

My dd is a very social baby too. She loves meeting new people and loves going out. She also smiles when people come up and talk to us/her. I hope she stays this way.
She's been like this since birth (or so it seems).

Yes, my daughter has always been like that. She is 14.5 months old now. she still smiles at strangers, reaches her arm out toward them to get them to come closer. She hugs baby girls (not boys), she smiled and giggled at a 2 yr old at the Post Office, she follows bigger kids and tries to initiate playing with them. She is absolutely not shy at all, and never has been. She loves interacting with other people.

Yes, DS is also very social! He has always wanted to face out in the sling.. even at 1-2 months old, and started laughing when he was 1 month. He loves people, especially other kids and will crawl and climb on anyone. People are always commenting on what a happy, social guys he is. Takes after his parents.... Daddy especially

I keep waiting for stranger anxiety to kick in.. he is almost 9 months. Nothing yet. Unless he is tired or hungry of course. Then only mama will do.
