I'm really hoping someone can help me (again ). I'm using this pattern: http://www.lunaticcafe.com/Patterns/ToddlerSock1.html I've done the cuff, leg, and part of the heel. I'm in the heel gusset section. I just finished the part where it says "knit across the instep stitches (Needles 2 and 3)." I'm confused about my needles. Right now needle 1 has the 9 picked up stitches and the M1; needles 2 and 3 have the instep stitches. If I follow the next step, needle 4 will have M1 (or will this end up on needle 3?) and 9 picked up stitches and 5 stitches of the heel. This is where I'm confused. My 5th needle will still have 5 stitches of the heel left on it. It never mentions those stitches, does it? And I won't have a free needle to knit with because all 5 needles will have stitches on them.

I think I must be misunderstanding something. Can anyone help??

Ok, I think I might have figured this out. On this website http://knittersreview.com/article_ho...e/070719_a.asp it says:

"Right now you've finished picking up the stitches along the final edge of the heel flap. Now count the stitches on the heel itself (the bottom needle in the above photo) and knit across half of those. This marks the end of your round. Slide the remaining unworked stitches onto your next needle, which has the stitches you picked up from the first side of the heel flap. Now you're set!"

So, after knitting across half of the heel stitches, that's my new start of the round?

Now, which needles do the M1's go on? The needles with the picked up stitches?

Yes, the increases should be on needles 1 and 4.
